Once you get to a certain number of beers, does it become difficult to determine wether or not youve had something or other? I just hit 400 tonight and am curious and excited about the next 100 on my journey. Cheers.

I've crossed 1,000 recently and can still usually remember if I've had something. If I can't, I just pull out my phone and check my records.

I can remember 99% of the time if I've had a certain beer before.

Yes, this is what I like about "ticking" them off. Usually I'll remember wether or not I've had a beer. But on occassion, I find I've already had one. But it's also nice to look up to double check how much I liked one in the past.

If you drink the next 100 in the same sitting, yeah you'll likely have trouble remembering.

I'm drinking my 600th now. 2015 Allagash Golden Brett is delicious. I definitely use this site as a log but I do find that I'll buy or try a beer that I thought was new to me. Oh well, as long as you're always buying good beer what's the harm in having one twice.

I'm not a ticker - I don't review, normally, and I don't keep lists of what I've had, But I can usually remember if I've had something or not. If I don't remember, I'm usually more than happy to try it again.
Part of me does wish that I've kept track of how many beers I've had. Over 20 years of drinking craft, 15 years fairly seriously, and 10 years here on BA, I've got to be in the thousands. (and yes, different ones, not just thousands of beers drank. I don't want to think about that number.)

I can usually remember but there have been a few times when I haven't remembered. I will just look it up to see if I have.

Oh, the tragedy! The waste of time and money, a calamity, a catastrophe, a complete debacle (Having the same beer twice!!!) The apocalypse is upon us!

I am at 1,124 and I suffer from CRS (can't remember shit) so I am always using my BA app on my phone.

I have just over 500. I think I have forgotten once (and I think it was Victory Winter Cheers).

Surprisingly, I remember all but a handful of them. It's usually the bourbons afterwards that I don't.

Think it depends on the person. I remember most everything after close to 1500 beers. I have a friend though that forgets we had a certain beer from 2 weeks ago. He does this routinely.

I'm just short of 3,000 and remember probably around 95%. My exceptions are typically flights at breweries and bars when travelling, which may or may not go hand-in-hand with exception #3: drinking too much. There's very few bottled beers I won't remember having. It's actually a genuine shock when I don't realize I already had something.

sad to put it this way, but the level of detail, time and money that is put into this hobby means that once you're pretty far gone into the rabbit hole, you're pretty obsessive about it. @ArsMoriendiOU818 sums it up pretty well

Yep^, I've had well over 4000 and I can usually pick out beers I have had before before pretty easily. Mostly because I only drink out of bottles, so the labels are easy to remember. Most of the time I can also recall flavor notes, but it's getting harder to do it off the top of my head now after 6 years since my first beer review. Also getting increasingly difficult to find new beers for that matter; but not impossible at all.

Yes it does. Especially if the brewer changes the label. I opened up a hefe the other day ready to post it on the NBS thread, turned out I had already had it the brewery. 7 years ago, but still.

Whether I've tried it? Sure, remembering what it tastes like is the hard part.

Most of the time I can remember what I have had and my general thoughts/notes/opinions on it. The exception being things that I tick only on untapped at beer festivals.

There is only one time I remember sitting down to write a review only to find that I already had one on here, and that was with The Abyss. It was a good opportunity to critique and adjust my review as my palate had changed.
