good news for all the gluten intolerant folks/ alchemist fans. heard they're brewing this beer at mercury at some point in the next couple of weeks. my best guess would be 22oz bottles?

Been hearing this rumor for a while. I'm wondering how it will turn out at Mercury though.

if they're brewing at mercury, they will most likely being do a large batch. this should be pretty easy to find when it arrives at retail. just speculation though.

If it turns out as good as the Alchemist brewpub Celia Saison, it will be a very good beer. I hope to get the chance to try this version.

Loved Celia on tap at the Pub, really looking forward to this. I imagine Kimmich and crew would be coming down to MA to brew it themselves at Mercury?

Definitely not what I would expect to be the next Alchemist release but I remember this being a good one when I had it last year at the brewpub. Hopefully more will follow.

Gluten free beer seems like it may be the next trend.

The brewers wife needs a gluten free beer. If mama ain't happy, nobody's happy. Besides they have won medals for these beers, seems like a logical choice to me.

good article. interesting he's calling it a " “sorghum beer" as oppose to gluten free. my translation of his explanation is that mercury brewing doesn't have the certification to allow for the label to read "gluten free."

The last paragraph explained why. Says nothing about Mercury not having proper certification.

I am surprised he would brew his beer somewhere else, he must be letting a little of the control go...

I was just down at Mercury on Thursday morning overseeing the first batch of Celia Saison. I have gone to every effort to ensure that it is brewed to my specifications. As of this afternoon it is raging along, and it smells great, according to Dan at Mercury. It will be distributed in a lot of places. Demand will dictate just how far it goes.(eventually, quite extensively on the East coast) As for why we decided to contract it?... because we will never have the capacity to fill the demand, and we just don't have the ability to properly distribute it. Gluten-free products certainly are all the rage these days, and with the awards I have won for these beers, we would be fools not to share it on a wider market. Be assured, this is the only Alchemist beer you will ever see contract brewed. When we finally have a little more room at The Cannery, I will begin brewing my old recipes again. These will be available only at The Cannery, and I haven't decided just how it will be packaged yet. Either counter-pressure filled growlers, or blank cans with little labels, or both. Only time will tell. There is a tenant sharing our building with us, and until they move out, I don't have room for more tanks. It could be 6 months, it could be a year, we'll see. The Celia should be hitting the shelves some time in early April. Keep your fingers crossed, I am entering it in the World Beer Cup again. It was a bummer last fall when I had to cancel all my GABF entries because of the flood. Anyway, thanks for having an interest in our little brewery up here in Vermont. We can fresh Heady every Monday and Thursday....
