I brought MBCP last year and it was a huge hit. I have been saving Morning Wood for DLD this year and can't wait to try it myself. I figure it is the perfect breakfast beer.

Rule of DLD...no matter what you bring, someone will always have something better.

 

We made friends with some people last year that were clearly new into craft beer, and just were just walking around with shelf Chicago bombers, and one girl kept apologizing for not having anything cool (as we kept passing on everything she was offering), but they were super cool and we were happy to share some loons and BCS.

She also said "well now I'm coming back next year, and I'm gonna be the one with cool shit".

This thread is making me wish I had some whales to share. I'm mostly bringing Chicago stuff like Crimson Snapper, Special Sauce and Coffee Dino'Smores.

 

What's wrong with that? Those are some very enticing beers that most out of market would love to try (myself included).

For anyone who's looking to keep it relatively light before the guest taps, my friend and I will have some TG and Surly hops (full disclosure: we'll probably kick it off with some KBS).

 

I believe I'm packing the following to help my palette cope with all the dark lord on tap..
deGarde Nectarine Bu and Cherry Gose
Xhops Gold
Pseudo Sue cans
Lizard King cans
and probably the prop 15 since now dtjager has me scared its infected.

I'll probably make a binny's run before to pack some spiteful for out of towners since I (and now everyone else after FOBAB) love them, and whatever I manage to snag from Barrel Cashacre.

 

Of course, shelf beer in Chicago isn't shelf beer to someone in, say, Louisiana. Yeah something like Ninja vs. Unicorn isn't a whale to anyone living in the Chicago metro area, but it's a great beer and there will probably be thousands of people at DLD who've never had it. To me, DLD shouldn't be a big dick contest about who has the rarest beers, it's about sharing great beers with others who might not have had them before. If someone won't give you a pour of their DB Huna or whatever just because you've "only" got shelf beer, no matter how delicious it may be, that person is an asshole IMO. Considering that there are probably going to be 10k+ people at DLD, just find someone else who'd be happy to share a beer and the company with you.
