You wouldn't have to, but it just might be a good idea to have a 6-pack in your hands before asking any questions.

I tend to be sympathetic to the employee when it comes to this topic, but I have to give you credit for that one. That was pretty good.

Being freshly legal to drink and fresh into the craft beer scene..I must say its one of the most unapproachable hobbys around.... I go to releases and people try to get me to leave..ask questions people give snobby responses and act like I should know everything and be perfectly acclimated to the scene.
I started drifting and going to car shows when I was 17 and everybody was so nice and helpful with everything.
Craft beer was the complete opposite. Reminds me of the stereotypes I had of wine people.
    Not all of you tho.

    End rant.

I'm almost embarrassed to say I passed that mile marker some ways back. Can always find something for the regular rotation though.

A lot of craft beer enthusiast give off this irritating elitist aura. This site is very useful for keeping up on release schedules and seeing the opinions of fellow BAs. Unfortunately the forums run rampant with snobbery and disrespect towards breweries. It is very much reminiscent of high school where something was cool until it got popular. A good percentage of people think that if a beer isn't super dry-hoped and 2 days old, barrel aged, or so extremely rare/inaccessible to the majority that it isn't worth drinking. It skews the ratings on this site and ultimately hurts the experience of being part of the craft beer population. These punks get on here and slam beers made by Stone, Sierra Nevada, Ballast Point, New Belgium..etc. As far as the forums are concerned if you don't have access to Trillium, NEBCO, Grimm, Toppling Goliath, Tree House, Russian River...don't even bother drinking beer. Constructive or honest criticism is a good thing in reviewing a beer. Straight up bashing the brewery and it's beer (especially when it's well established) makes you kind of a douche. We have all had beers we dislike but giving Stone IPA a 1.45 rating bc it doesn't taste like pineapple juice is idiocy. Drink what you like but give reviews the way the site intended you to. Of course I look for limited releases and highly sought after beers when I go to the bottle shop. If they don't have anything of that nature I simply buy local, styles I've yet to try, or the classics. The craft beer scene is flourishing and we are all so lucky to have the amount options we have. The downside to this being that many of us have become spoiled-snobby dicks and others have just become sheep.

In order to have the opportunity to sell beers like #kbs and other rare beers we must sell "core" beers from the brewery. Core beers are items like All Day, Centennial, Two Hearted (bells) etc. Breweries use the sale of these "core" beers to produce their limited brews, retailers use the sale of these "core" beers to increase their allocation for rare beer. Unfortunately without one there can not be the other. Hopefully sharing this information will help everyone understand how these types of releases are handled at the distribution level. #craftbeer #savethewhales

I gotta say I've been fortunate enough not to meet any craftholes. Maybe because with a 7 week old at home, I don't get out much these days. I have a few craft drinking friends who are not this way, and the rest drink macro. For the latter, if anything, it's me being a minor crafthole for gently chiding them for drinking swill; I do it without malice and simply for laughs, no offense ever taken. As for hearing snarky comments at bars or bottle shops, I've yet to experience it. I tend to mind my own business anyway.

Deep appreciation for something =/= being an asshole.

Just have the deep appreciation without being an asshole. That's kind of the point of this whole thing. I'm not really understanding what direction you're coming from with that. Maybe I'm missing your point.

Really is so straight forward. Deep appreciation "is not equal to" being an asshole.
Not sure what there is or isn't to get from that. In other words you can enjoy something without being a total snob or a dick to other people...

We get these people alot. Call them Cherry pickers. Nothing is more annoying then watching them come in and never buy anything because "Nothing good on the shelves." Fun fact if you never buy the more available offerings the store wont get a chance at landing the more limited offerings. Also if I notice customers buying often from our store I usually hold on to limited product and offer those customers a chance at buying it first.

What is the opposite of crafthole? I seem to be the rare breed that is against craftholism and in fact enjoy ALL beer. I like my adjunct lagers and I like my local craft. And i hate whales. Fuck that shit. $20 per bottle, really? I thought it was called beer, not debt. Until they change this site to craftbeeradvocate.com, I'll still promote beer, period. Go ahead, ban me.
