Good morning BA, have a great Sunday!

Incredible DIPA. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, mango, melon, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with light honey/bready malt balance; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine/rind bitterness; with a smooth, crisp, and sticky/resinous mouthfeel. I actually prefer this over the 1.0 Ruination. This isn’t as brutally aggressive as the original on bitterness, but it still has plenty and is more drinkable overall; with better hop complexity, IMO.


Excellent old ale. Flavors of caramel, toffee, cocoa, chocolate, coffee, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, nuttiness, and herbal/woody/peppery hops; with a hint of dark fruits. Light spicy hop and roast bitterness; with a medium-full body creamy mouthful. Very smooth and complex stuff. Still hoping for Great Divide to return to Michigan, but I can always get my fix in when I go Ohio at least.


Really delicious barleywine. Flavors of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread malts; with balanced raisin, plum, fig, pear, melon, apple, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine hop/cognac fruitiness; with vanilla, oak, and light bourbon on the finish. Light-moderate pine bitterness and oak spiciness; with a medium-full bodied creamy/lightly slick mouthfeel; some hop/oak stickiness as well. Light increasing dryness from sticky hop oils after the finish. Zero cloying sweetness and only lightly warming after the finish for 12%. Glad that this is a shelf turd like the Scallywagger, because I will keep grabbing this for a while. This is Bourbon and cognac blended barrel aged beer; but it is definitely way bigger on the cognac presence; and I really like it for that unique profile.


Simply incredible. Flavors of big dark roasted coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, cream, caramel, toffee, dark bread, light smoke/char, and herbal/piney hops. Bittersweet balanced roast/char and herbal/piney hop finish; with a medium-full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel; with light sticky/chalky roasted dryness. This felt a bit too hoppy when I had it super fresh, but after 4-5 months from bottling it tastes just as incredible as I remember the first time I had it years ago; and still has enormous amounts of coffee flavor.

Good Sunday BAs..looks to be another beautiful day here, temps in the 70s. I'm starting my day with the bitter coffee flavor of a Peche Mortel. This is becoming my preferred breakfast stout. A wonderful brew.

No music right now, just NPR on and a NY Times crossword in front of me to challenge this muddled morning brain.

Went for several nice walks Saturday, in between working on boat stuff and other chores....lots of marsh marigolds and trout lily wildflowers getting started in the woodlands....going to go get some more early ramps after I finish breakfast / beer
