They're denying base beer infection at this point. Either they know some BCBS is likely infected but are denying it because it expands things much further - or they really believe that what they found as the source of the infection was specific to the variants somehow. If it is the latter, then they need some proof, but it is probably the former, in which case providing possibly infected examples might accomplish nothing.

and, technically, they are probably right. since barleywines and stouts are 2 different beer types we can assume the issue is not limited to a single 'base'.

Opened two more of the 11/4 (0940, 0941) 14.3% ABV. Both were infected. Also opened an 11/4 (1147) 14.3% ABV that was fine. This one had been refrigerated since Black Friday or shortly after.

I opened another bottle this morning, same date as above, couldn't take the stress. This one is Fine, other than not aged enough yet.

I've open 3 bottles the last few days:

23OCT15 1435- tart, vinous off flavor; instant drain pour
23OCT15 1536- metallic, iron flavor aftertaste; finished my ~4oz pour, then drained poured the rest
    12OCT15 1257- spectacular

I also had a draft pour of '15 BCBS at Bullfeathers here in DC last week; spectacular as well

Dang - this thread has me worried. I've drank about 5 BCBS to date - all have been stored in a refrigerator at around 40 degrees. Each has been spectacular. Have like 7 more that I was planning on cellaring and drinking periodically but now I'm getting worried. This sucks because these were not cheap here in Michigan - I bet I paid on average somewhere between $15-$20/bottle I have.

I finally opened my only BCBW that I had purchased - this had been stored in the refrigerator from day one (Black Friday). Opened it up, and it immediately gushed out. The interesting part was the aroma actually smelled pretty dam good - so me and my buddies said what the heck - lets give it a try - poured about 2-3 oz and took a drink. Aweful - tasted like pure metal and totally thin. I'm thankful I didn't purchase more of these.

Had a bottle dated Oct 22 the other night and still tasted great. No signs of tartness or other off flavors in taste and smell.

A few people posted that they did. They were politely told "There are no problems with regular. Move along."

It's a shame if true, but I'll drink mine when I'm ready. If it's bad I pour it out and set up another. I've got 8 bottles tucked away and I'll drink them when I feel like it, I refuse to rush.

I emailed and was told "thanks for the feedback but our brewers tried the whole line and determined there was no issue with BCBS"

    I paraphrased.
I guess their brewers aren't real good at detecting infection then.
