I popped into Great Notion a week or so ago for a beer. I saw the brewer come out to the bar area with a bottle of de Garde and set it down by me. I recognized him from an article I read online so I struck up a conversation, telling him I really love the IPAs he's brewing and so on. After a brief chat he pops the bottle of de Garde, which just happen to be The Broken Truck No. 2, pours some into my glass and says cheers! Needless to say, it was an excellent trip to Great Notion and they've definitely earned my business.

Just here to say that the Blueberry Muffin sour they had on recently was one of my favorite beers I've had this year! A fun flavor that was very well executed. Like a blueberry version of Home, Sour Home but I liked Great Notion's iteration much better.

Great Notion has entered the rotation of breweries when we go out with the kids for a bite to eat. Love the beer and the food is good as well. (Though just call it biscuits and gravy. It isn't a pot pie.) The beer is different than most of what Portland puts out and I like that. (Double Stack and Jr are some of my favorite new beers in a long while.) I didn't find the pricing too far out of line, but I travel a lot and have spent far more for far worse beer.

    Loved Blueberry Muffin.

Had it on draft at the brewery and it poured a nice golden sour. My crowler, however, was lime green. Still tasted fantastic.

I saw a couple pics online of green Blueberry Muffin, and thought they were mis-tagged photos of their berliner with woodruff syrup, but apparently not. :astonished:

Just saw a post on facebook from a couple days ago where they were pretty much sold out of everything. I'm visiting Portland for a couple days starting tomorrow, will they have beer available?

Good question! The good thing is you have several other (better?) options if they don't.

Strange. Crowler I had a few weeks back was spot on.

    (blueberry muff hehe)

They did release a key lime beer recently, but I haven't had that one yet.

I was just there yesterday and they were out of a few beers, but they still had the blueberry and the juice jr. and a few others. Juice jr for the win

I will be flying into Portland on Friday for the De Garde Anniversary this weekend. I was going to try to get some crowlers of the Great Notion/De Garde collaboration. My question is how bad do the lines get at Great Notion for releases? Cheers!

200 crowlers available. Doors open at 11, they'll be handing out tickets to the first 100 in line. No tickets, no crowler. Open to the general public at noon.

Thanks for the update. My flight gets in at 9 am. I may go straight there from the airport.

I couldn't like your post, it was too depressingly true to endorse.

But what about all these Great Notion crowlers I can fund my kids' college educations with?

Be sure to hold on to your 1st edition holographic GN/dG COW crowlers. With just 15 years of appreciation you'll be able to sell them on eBay for $1.3-$1.45M based on my KellyBeerBook estimates, and lackluster understanding of socioeconomic bubbles.

It pains me to admit it, but you're right. Apparently people were in line before 9am to purchase a crowler. :astonished:

Makes me think of the line, and I may be misquoting so forgive me: Punk rock was great. Too bad you missed it.
