I love craft beer, I love bars, I hate paying $5.00 for a single bottle of Hop Devil.
Anyone know of BYOB friendly bars down here?
I can understand if there are none, after all what's in it for the bar if I go there to take up space and not buy anything.
Maybe some will let you bring in special bottles they don't have?
Maybe a restaurant with a crappy beer selection wouldn't mind if I brought a bottle of Yeti?

I've been to several restaurants that allow you to bring a bottle of beer or wine, because you are after all... Buying food.
The likelyhood of any bar allowing this is low. You know why, it is stated in your OP. You can order a pizza delivery to most bars that don't serve food, too, but go ahead and call up Dominos next time you're seated in your local China Buffet and see how that goes over...

I found an Italian restaurant in South Florida (can't recall the name at the moment) who said it was okay, but I think it was mostly because the guy was surprised/confused.

I found Laser Wolf to have pretty fair prices the few times I went.

Honestly, you can bring special bottles(read: not ones you can buy down here) into BX Beer Depot, World of Beer, and I'm sure other places, but you really have to expect 2 things: 1)Share that shit 2) Buy something. Plain and simple.

Coffee District in Delray has a beer night on Monday. The owner is really casual about bringing bottles on other days. As stated above though, buy something and share.

Just speaking as a friend of Chung's, Monday nights are the only times he really permits this. If he knows you he may allow you to later in the evening or when they close. But other than that it's Mondays only.

But on the topic of BYOB places I normally see this more up north in big cities as opposed to down here. Philly, New York, Boston, etc I have seen a lot of BYOB places and it's normally because of the lack of available liquor licenses or the extreme cost of them.

Yeah, maybe it is because I know Chung that he allows it. I never thought of that. Either way, Chung is a great guy and Coffee district is really fun (especially on Monday nights). I have to head over there this weekend.

If it's a large format bottle you could maybe ask them about a corking fee as if it were wine. I have no idea what that kind of thing costs though

I'm not in South Florida, but in my experience many cigar bars will allow BYOB as long as you buy a cigar.

I'm sure there are BYOB friendly bars in South Florida... but if you're bringing in something as readily available as Hopdevil..... you should really just buy the beer at the bar. Bring in something crazy if you're bringing your own beer.
