I've def encountered this situation plenty of times. I left two 2012 Bourbon county barelywines at my buddies. I forgot them and it haunted me lol. He always has super awesome crazy stuff that he shares with me(more than likely those BC will still be at his house next time we share) so I didn't really mind. However my GF's friend's husband always brings mediocre (12pks) of beer over and I always ask him to take them. Not because they are mediocre but because I don't need 10 wachusett ipas sitting around in my fridge for 2 months. I think he was kind of upset I asked him to take them with him. I guess it all depends on the situation! haha

Ask him to bring it back AND something else next time and the world will be right again

Just like if it was left, it should be saved for the next share!

What usually happens is, we all bring more beer than we can reasonably drink that day/night. Of my 2 friends that generally host, I keep my "cellar" in his actual cellar, and the other has a DBF, so if I leave stuff there, I know it'll be there next time. Like I said in my other post, I generally leave 'em behind, but there are situations where I take it with me. A third buddy who hosts doesn't have much room, so if it's anything more than a "drinking" beer, I take it so he has room in his fridge for other stuff. Like food. Which his GF appreciates.

Usually when I share beers with friends, I purposely bring more than we are going to be able to drink to have more options. I then let my friends pick which of my bottles they are most interested in to open that night. Then the ones they are least interested in get left over and taken home with me. If I tried to leave them they would remind me not to forget my other beers.

Perhaps you have a point. I never do wake up with a blinding headache; must be doing it wrong. Haha.

Interesting. I guess it's just whatever works in your circle of friends. Sounds like you take some good beercations

If I go to a share and we all pitch in and I have bottles left, I take them with me. I have shares all the time at my place and I definitely don't expect people to leave them. Most of the time the bottles I bring and take home with me are ones that I traded for and put a lot of effort into acquiring, not to mention money for shipping, etc. I also tend to have a cooler bag that I leave my bottles in during the share so I just pick up my bag and leave.

I always overbring to shares, with usually 8-10 bombers, so there will most likely be leftovers anyway.

Now if I brought over a sixer of Arrogant Bastard or something, I'd definitely leave it, but if its a true share, and everyone pitches in, I don't see why I need to leave my bottles.

Coolio! I like the cooler idea. Keep your friends close, and your beer even closer :stuck_out_tongue:

I've always left bottles... but my group also always meets at the same spot.
(I tend to always bring too many and currently have a dozen or so bottles there)

If the location rotates, I see nothing wrong with taking your bottle home with the plan to bring to next share.

I always leave all the bottles i bring. If you aren't willing to leave them, don't bring them.

BUT, usually the host saves the bottle I brought for when I see them again. Unless they know I have no interest in drinking it. So the etiquette of a good host is to not guzzle down the leftovers by yourself after everyone leaves.

Definitely depends. Anytime I have a share and ask friends to bring a bottle (1) and I anticipate providing several if not most of the beers out of my cellar. Every one of my friends brings 4-6 bottles (I'm talking 750's and lots of strong beers) as if we are going to have a chance at drinking that much. I would prefer for them to bring home their stuff in that case.

yeah, if you are bringing like 17 bottles to a share, you don't have to leave them all behind.

Yeah, in addition to whatever "special" stuff we open, there's always a couple (or more) sixers of drinkin' beers that we use as palate refreshers. Those always get left behind (nobody ever has enough lawnmower beer), except for couple that I'll stuff in my pocket for the walk home.

At our small shares in Boise (Usually all the same people), if it's unopened, take it back home with you, and maybe we'll see it at the next one.... The big annual Imperial Stout share that was just held (160 bottles), the leftovers get cellared until next year's event. I t always ensures a decent supply....
