See, we didn't have too much of a wait last year... we took the shuttle into town and got there around 2:30 or so, went and ate breakfast, grabbed a coffee from Moka, and jumped in line (probably just after 3:00) and got in the bottle line as soon as we were inside and had my bottles bought in probably 15mins. We were probably...within the first 100 people in line (we were right near the rear of the Pharmacy building...so however many people that is lol) so that may have had something to do with how quick our bottle turn-around was, but we plan on running on the same schedule this year as we've done the past couple...It gets us in town with plenty of time to have breakfast with no rush.. take a walk around a bit, grab our last non-beer beverage for the next SEVERAL hours and hang in line and chat with folks...

Now, I did notice that on the Anni party page, it says "The festival entrance is located at the intersection of North Bridge Street and M88"
Now last year and the year before, we lined up and entered on the other end (Bridge and Broad St) but there was also an entrance at Bridge and 88. Is it being limited to just the M88 end? Or will there be both still? Can you chime in on this at all @HopHeadHerman ?

Yeah I was in the same boat as you. The POS system was down when the bottle sales first started, which accounted for most of the wait. Regardless, piece of mind of not having to deal with any type of bottle line is well worth the service fee for me.

Yeah, I'm with you...but it still is a little more steep than I'd like.
You make the fee $1.50, and if somebody buys say...3 bottles, you cover the overhead (sorting/eventbrite fee/etc)
The flipside of that is somebody buying, say, 12 bottles...his transaction takes no longer/no more effort than the 3 bottles, yet they get charged 4x more for it
In actuality it would probably take LESS time and effort "Ok *looks at order* one case! *Staples order form to case box and moves on*"

Again, suuuuuuuuuuper small gripe, but hey...

A thought re: the ticket fee...

Previously, as the bottles were sold on-site, if they charged $10, they got $10. Now they're selling them through a third party (Eventbrite) who most certainly wants their own cut. I would guess that they are taking close to the ticket price off of the total price, so for Shorts to get back to the $10 they were looking to sell for, the cost to use Eventbrite has been passed on to the consumer. I'm not complaining, as I would expect that from any business. Just an observation. Shorts wants their $10/bottle. Eventbrite wants their fee for their services. It falls to the consumer to cover both costs.

It will be at Cayuga and Bridge - there will be two "entrances" at the entrance: one for general admission and one for VIP which includes staff, volunteers, liberator guests, distributor gusts, friends of Short's, etc.

    Good deal, glad I asked.
Though I suspect we'd notice pretty quickly that there was no entrance when we walked up Broad St lol!
I would think that the opposite end would be the better of the two since Broad is a far less busy street than Cayuga...but with traffic being re-routed around the back of the Court House as usual, that probably won't be the case.
I seem to remember the occasional stupid folk walking down the street to get to the end of the line completely ignoring that there are cars on the road AND police shouting for them to move to the side. This is probably to cut down on that...

My usual friends that I have gone with the past two years had family commitments and can no longer go:slight_frown:. Fortunately, I know that many of my fellow beer advocate members will be there and I would love to share a pint with any of you. I look forward to this event every year!

100% of the fee is eventbrite. We tried looking at other options but could not effectively notify existing ticket holders or get it implemented effectively in a timely manner. A limited amount will be available at the event for those who want to wait.

Last year it was $19 in stores I think, less at the party. It also was the second worst beer we made profit wise last year (if you guess the worst in 2014 or 2015 I will buy you a beer at the anny party - first correct answer only please private message me and I will post the answer when guessed). We were struggling to make it viable and so it was a great bomber option. Even with the per ounce cost bombers generally suck. The glass is 5 times more, labor is high, label cost is ten times more due to lower volume. Most of the per ounce cost if offset by those items. After all is said and done we make a decent but not significantly different margin to our average six pack.

Like I said, that's kinda what I figured... again, small gripe but hey, in the end it is a REALLY cool option. It being an individual ticket that has to be printed for each bottle is a little cumbersome, but that's what a stapler is for

Thanks for taking the time to chime in with the info for us

I appreciate the reply. But when you say it was a great bomber option and then list all the costs you have to pass on to customers because of putting the beer in bombers, it seems like it wasn't a great bomber option.

Bombers suck. Everyone has loved Shorts for their 6 packs. This move was a poor choice, and you just explained why.

I agree that bombers suck, it pains me to make them but when we did not have them everyone complained about lack of bombers. Rock and a hard place for us on this one. I wish the market would move away from them but that is not me who decides that.

After reviewing data there are four beers after the past couple of years that have been particularly low. Two of the 4 are Anniversary Ale and Black Cherry Porter. Two remaining so keep the guesses coming in.

i paid $14-15 last year in stores. Even at $15 a 6 pack, the price has more than doubled.

I paid $14.99 for a six pack last year. If you want to charge a couple extra bucks, I would understand that. Doubling the price is a bit egregious. Love Anniversary Ale, but will be passing on bombers.

Everyone was complaining that there was a lack of bombers? Quite surprising. "We demand poor value packaging!"

It was Spruce Pilsner and Superfluid. So it was Anny Ale, Black Cherry Porter, then Spruce Pilsner then Superfluid.
