From the comments in the link on the first post:

Question: "Is it gonna be more a German or Czech style? Or is the style book getting thrown out the window for this one?"
Answer: "If you know me, you know I'm not big on convention."

    Pilsners have always been great.

Ah Stone, once again pretending they invented something.

Ironically it would probably be more unconventional in the US market to brew a solid example of a more "traditional" Pilsner than one that is more like an IPL, or with some other "twist" on it.

I'm not claiming I invented the pilsner. I'm just putting my own spin on it. And yes, they have always been great... when done right.

Ain't that the truth. Or, at least it would be to us craft folks. I guess that, for your average super market drinker dipping their toe in the water of craft beer, IPLs/twists on traditional styles probably seem pretty avant garde.

As for me, I'd gladly take an uber-traditional pils.

Looking forward to this one. Was just thinking the other day that Stone really doesn't do many lagers... can't think of any actually.

I think we're going to be seeing a lot more Pilsners and lighter hybrid styles coming into the market in the next couple years.

Stone has "spun-off" the Arrogant Bastard brand to be it's own 'dba ' brewing company (even though the beers are, obviously, still brewed at Stone breweries).

The Facebook entry mentioned in the OP, dated 4/16 said only "COMING SOON".

Understood, thus my "either Stone web site" comment.
Added April 20th, probably right after the last I looked it up.
Yeah, well -- Facebook discriminates against "non members," I get the Sorry, this content isn't available right now blank screen because I haven't followed the lemmings.

That's why Jess Kidden [<not the way I spell my name on my Passport  or in my HS yearbook] has a Facebook account - strictly "for research purposes " only.

    Oh, the sacrifices one makes...:grinning:

I will welcome this Pilsner with open arms, especially considering how great a beer FW has made while taking some liberties themselves. This is exactly what I expect top tier American brewers to be doing, btw - staying true to what makes styles so great and drinkable while putting their own spin on it.

Now, what would make me even happier is if they made a lager version of Gotterdammarung. Call it an IPL if you must, but keep it turned up to 11 with those German hops .

How sure are you that the Arrogant Pils is "drinkable?" Has anyone had it yet?
Something just seems wrong that a beer called Gotterdammerung isn't a lager, but I suppose Wagner could have been drinking the "old style" of beer in 1848.

    How do I know? I don't - but I guess I'll take @TongoRad's word for it --- since that's who wrote that post (#57).

(Not the first time this has happened... "Quote" attributed to the wrong poster - some sort of glitch).

Yeah -- I started to reply to you, but made in-flight adjustments and answered Tongo... unfortunately, the Curtiss Jenny that powers the coding stalled and I augured in. Apologies.

(Fortunately, the warranty on my parachute hadn't run out -- all better now :grinning:)
