FWIW I did not pick up much pineapple aroma/flavor in this beer either. My wife perceived it more than I did but she still characterized is as being on the subtle side.

    Cheers!

Just goes to show how subjective "good" beer can be (:

I like it. Not sweet at all. Not as good as GF but better than the regular. Never had a good regular in a can or bottle no natter how fresh it has been. On tap it can be very good. I paid about $13 a six for the mix 12 pack. I would buy PA sculpin again if it was $12-13. There is a huge PA smell upon bottle opening and it's there for the whole beer in the glass. Not as big in the taste but it's there

    Enjoy

I picked up a growler from Total Wine the other day and the wife and I liked it (and she doesn't like many IPA's.. so I am not sure how to take that  ) Anyway we could taste the Pineapple in the beginning, followed by a nice hop bitterness, and then a surprise revisit from Pineapple at the end.

I immediately tasted the pineapple "juicey-ness" on the first sip and thought it bordered on the edge of too sweet, but I'd still drink another. I agree I like the grapefruit a lot better than the original Sculpin.

Can we at least agree all Sculpins are better than the Watermelon one Ballast makes?

I had it on tap the other night at my local watering hole and it definitely has that juicy pineapple flavor almost to a point that the IPA looses it's body/bight. A good beer flavorwise but a little unbalanced IMO

Didn't get any pineapple at all, taken blind I'd just assume it another mediocre IPA.

man I had it on tap and the pineapple was there and detectable, but when I belched, it reminded me of eating pineapple. Wierdest thing.

Ballast point makes some great beer. Picked up a 6 pack of Grapefruit Sculpin a few weeks pack and really enjoyed it. I'll have to try this next.

I tried Evolution pineapple IPA based on my like of Sculpin PA. Have to say Sculpin is much better. Evolution has hardly any scent or taste of pineapple. It's uber fresh too. Price wise though it's great at $17 a 12 pack. As an IPA it's pretty good, just lacks the fruit it claims to be.

    Enjoy

This. I can no doubt pick up the pineapple in both the smell and the taste.....moreso in the smell but I still get it in the flavor. Really good beer but not as pronounced as the grapefruit, but I think that's natural based on the 2 fruits charactaristic.

My local store lets me buy singles, so glad they do as I picked up one based on people raving about it and wasn't impressed, or at least not enough to justify the buildup. I could smell pineapple, and the first taste had some pineapple, but it was very underwhelming compared to what I was expecting.

That was exactly my experience as well; there was some pineapple aroma/flavor but it was underwhelming compared to my expectations as well. Oh well, I get to say I tasted one.

    Cheers!
