Nothing? You have tasted all 4,000+ breweries? Yikes. The point is that we now are blessed with great beer almost everywhere near bigger metro areas in the US. The bar has been set very high. Small 1-3 yr old, 2-5,000 barrel operations are just killing it all over New England.( My local) That's why we have beer judging and competitions. To show how far the rest of the US has to go to catch up to New England,

I will say, I just had 4Hand's City Wide and it was very good. If I didn't have access to lizard king/ZD I'd be real happy with CityWide as a local option.

And you can walk in and purchase Brickstone when you want, at least around here, PseudoSue? Never seen it here but it's excellent and I get some every time I cross the river as my kids go to Iowa.

Was going to post this as well ... if you think of the style this is where it is at, most others are just very hoppy ales IMO.

I use to be quite a fanboy of Zombie Dust, and although I still hold it high regard for it's flavor and 'crushability', there certainly are a few others I'd reach for more frequently if I could. Those would be predominantly from Toppling Goliath.

Yeah, too bad that regional bias crept in... because there was absolutely no regional bias in this thread from the start.

Yet another vote for Fort Point and its variations from Trillium, side by side with Zombie Dust, which is good, and its not even close

Zombie Dust and Pseudosue are such completely different beers that if they were not both called pale ales people would never think to compare them in the first place.

I guess that shows how important categorization is to people.

Firestone Walker Pale 31 is probably my favorite APA.

I have also done this with ZD and Alpha. I agree that all the FPPA's blew them away.

Hard to disagree. I would also place Boulevard Pale Ale in this category. Been around forever, people forget how awesome it is, and it can be had for $6-$8 per sixer.

Much better representation of the style than anything FFF makes. That's why I mentionn City Wide as well. Perfectly balanced and great representation of what an American Pale Ale truly is and should be.
