I don't know about all that but what I do know is that Nitro IPA might be the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth.

Sam Adams spends a lot of time these days promoting old hat as innovative. Its a shame since, for a company as big as they are, they have the resources to actually take some real risks rather than piggy back off what smaller craft brewers are doing.

That was a really bizarre interview.

Fwiw the Sam Adams beer can is slightly better, I suppose.

As far as the subject of this thread goes, you've got it backwards. It took years to develop their can and tons of money... and they allowed other craft brewers to use their design without a licensing fee.

I asked my neighbor who drinks her Bud Light out of a can what she thought and she shrugged.

I've always wondered the same thing.
I think I remember Jim saying that the cans are more money per can. Maybe that's a deterrent.

Who cares!?!? My father-in-law drinks Bud Light from a can. I care NOT what he thinks about beer or cans in general. Same goes for your neighbor.

SNPA in a can? Sure! Sam Adams in a can? Ok...I am down. Anything from InBev in a can that any person thinks is a great beer...pass....already over it!

I'll not turn it down if offered to me though...just sayin'.....

He seems a little faded. Whatever. Some say that's the point.

Trying to wrap my head around how you came to this conclusion. Pretty sure plenty of breweries have been doing cans since well before BBC released a single canned beer. I'm inclined to agree with Dave_Deas. The can didn't really need to be reinvented, especially for BBC beers.

Eh, it was really thin on the mouthfeel somehow despite being a nitro beer and they really wussed out on the coffee. It was inoffensive at best while the wit and the ipa were terrible.

    When isn't he?

If they are talking about the can with that extended lip on it thats been out and i find it actually difficult to drink from in that that extended edge goes into my mouth a good amount to drink from it. Its kind of shaped the same way the rim of their glassware is shaped.

PhDs aren't worth what they used to be if it took 3 of them to reinvent the wide-mouth can.

Also, "Jim Koch, redesigned the company's can to ensure it's as good as a glass bottle." I'm sorry, when has drinking from a bottle ever been better than from a can?

Can't be worth much if they can't afford a glass.
