When your wife says she doesn't want to "waste" the day brewing when it's finally nice out in Chicagoland.... And deep down you know she's right.... You wake up at 4AM and pour yourself a 2015 BCS to start the brew session! Ching Ching BA's!

Something new. Got off work an hour early which was nice.

    Flying Fish Daylight Savings IPA.

Lets go NJ pumping out new beers. For an ipa at 4.9%, its light but the flavor packs like a full ipa. Warrior, Azacca and Citra hops. And you could pick out all 3 individuals too. its pretty cool. Warrior is pungent and bitter orange pine, azacca gives it a cool mango, stone fruit and citra hits grapefruit and that sharpness. Its like they contrast each other greatly. This is excellent! It is comparable to All Day. And thats coming from someone who drinks that a lot. Beyond clean. This is a prime example of water being a MAJOR part of how the beer tastes. Cheers.

Edit. This beer is so good i felt the need to email the brewery and thank them for it. Im going back for more when i can. Move over All Day, theres a new sheriff this summer.

Not as nasty as I thought it would be. At least the smell was pleasant (albeit perhaps artificial-like). I can see how this can be fun to drink in certain scenarios (with certain foods for example).

With so many choices these days I tend to forget some of my favorites and eventually "stumble" onto them again. I am looking at you Mr. TEN FIDY. Yum...

Good morning BA, have a great Sunday!

Delicious Kolsch again this year. Cracker, biscuit, and light honey malts; with balanced herbal, grassy, peppery hops; and light lemon, pear, apple yeast fruitiness. Light-moderate grassy/spicy bitterness; smooth/crisp finish with light grainy creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Extremely refreshing.

15 year old J.W. Lees. This is absolutely insane! Huge flavors of caramel, toffee, molasses, honey, brown sugar, butterscotch, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, toasted biscuit, light chocolate, and a touch of herbal/woody hops in the far background. Minimal carbonation with a full bodied creamy, slick, and thick mouthfeel. Zero cloying sweetness and easy smooth sipping. Zero warming ABV. WOW. I reviewed a 2002 (exactly) 4 years ago and this is the same sublime experience, or better. Definitely not past prime or anything yet. I am definitely going to sit on the 750 ml Anniversary edition for a while now!

Fantastic this year, again. Flavors of raisin, plum, fig, date, apple, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and light clove/pepper yeast spice. Balanced sweetness and yeast/oak spice on the finish. A bit above medium bodied with a very smooth finish with light-moderate creaminess/slickness in the mouthfeel. Great balanced between the barrel and quad complexity. Well attenuated and not overly sweet. Glad I grabbed a few.

2 year old bottling. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, molasses, toast, smoke, char, and herbal/spicy hops; with light dark fruits and licorice. Bittersweet roast/char finish; with a full bodied creamy/silky and sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel. Lightly drying from hop and roast stickiness. Still got a good hop kick to it after 2 years in there, but still fantastic stuff.

    Cheers

Good morning, BA's. We're getting ready for a day of college rowing and I decided to drink my remaining bottle of '14 KBS. I have to say I was disappointed in the way that it's aged. The coffee and chocolate have largely dissipated and it's more like drinking straight bourbon. There's a time and a place for everything but this is neither the time nor the place for that. I've learned a lesson about aging KBS and I'll probably drink the '15's and '16's more quickly. It will be a pretty day today and we'll be home in time for NBS. In the meantime, cheers!

Alright. It's time to get out of bed. What to put in the omelette for breakfast? Decisions. I need some "coffee" first. The glass has been filled with Peche Mortel.

    Good morning BAs...
