Let Sunday Funday begin! Time to reach into the back of the keg box for something new and this beer comes courtesy of former BA BennyPils.

    The Beer: FFF Jinx-Proof Lager

Pours a body of burnished yellow-gold with a striking stark-white collar of stiff foam with the consistency of whipped egg whites.

Aroma is of fresh, sweet lemons surrounded by bready, malty goodness. Entry is soft and quiet with a noticeable lack of carbonation. Midtaste repeats the fresh lemony goodness promised in the nose.

Finish shows very memorable noble hops...most likely Saaz.

Overall a very nicely crafted Lager with a refreshing take and no noticeable off-flavors.

Not onl would I drink it again...I would never hesitate to recommend it,

Happy NBS! Great posts as always.
Love being able to relax and do nothing on Sunday if I want too...tho it's perfect day to be doing stuff outside here in the 70s.. Instead I'm inside cleaning engine parts and drinking beer. Fine by me tbh.
When I saw this beer I already knew I would like it. Anything pineapple is on my radar.
    Mikkeller Spontanpinneapple.
L: Pours a fairly clear golden color with a small soapy head.

S: Tart tropical fruits with a background of farmhouse horse hay Musty attic funk.

T: A nice very slight sweet pineapple taste upfront maybe some pear or green apple.. Then come the funk! Really nice funk just like the smell.

F: Thick than I would have expected but appreciated. A bit prickly when first poured.

O: Probably the best pineapple beer I've tried really goes well the the lambic/guezue funk.

    May be back later!

I'm often sad and happy wherever I get to try great beers I know I'm unlikely to ever try again. Today is one of those days. I love dry hopped APAs, and this one didn't disappoint. I feel like I should have devoted a free hour to enjoying it instead of starting it 10 minutes before my kids get up from their naps. Fortunately, I have a second pour I'll be saving for after they go to bed. Pictures and review are below, but to summarize: I won't complain if someone sends me more of this.

Poured from an undated bottle into a 12 ounce nonic glass. Pours hazy pineapple juice/grapefruit juice color. It's completely opaque with a solid two finger white head on a vigorous pour. The head reduces slowly and remnants are there for long after the pour, leaving incredible lacing. The smell is all fruit juice - pineapple, grapefruit, and orange. The pineapple is so strong I almost mixed in some Bacardi. The mouthfeel is medium to high carbonation, smooth and ever so slightly oily. The taste hits you with strong hops immediately, but only slightly bitter, which lingers after the taste. There is a strong presence of fruit under the hops, mostly pineapple but also some orange. I'm getting just a hint of malt at the finish. Overall this beer is fantastic, and I'm very sad I'm unlikely to ever have it again.

The non-BA version of that beer is my favorite from the brewery. I used to live about 20 minutes from it, and I regularly filled a growler with Angel's Trumpet. My avatar is that beer.

Given there's already a new "one hitter" out in this series, I'm assuming this has a little age on it. But if it's still on the shelves with no bottle date I can find, I'm considering it fair game. They were able to print some sort of numbers on the neck. Why no "bottled on" and/or "enjoy by" I wonder?

So, this one pours a mostly clear, pale orange-gold color with some floaties visible and a few fingers of soapy, bright white head that leaves decent lacing. Pretty.

It's got orange, yellow cake and grape skins in the nose. Definite blood orange up front in the taste with a mild bitterness behind and just a touch of malt. The blood orange continues into a lingering aftertaste as well. Medium bodied, with a slightly sticky mouthfeel and a slight prickliness.

This definitely delivers on the blood orange, but there's nothing here that really wows. Was happy for the chance to try it, but if they brew it again, I think I'll pass.

My favorite day of the week, New Beer Sunday! I've been meaning to try this for a while, as Bell's Expedition Stout is one of my personal favorites (Cherry Stout and Saturn are also fantastic), so I was excited to crack open another of their offerings.

I got a nice light pine and tropical aroma when I first smelled this beer, and the taste followed suit, with a nice bitterness to top it off. This one got better as it warmed, as those flavors began to intensify even more as I continued drinking. I'm really happy I picked a few of these up for my wife and I, and will certainly grab a few more the next time I visit the bottle shop I frequent that carries it.

    Cheers NBSers!

Good beautiful Sunday evening NBSers. And thanks Maria for a wonderfully crafted kickoff post. Your Pilsner guide has it all: info, great pics and lots of very useful info. Dug it! Maria is the epitome of why I - and I'm sure many others hang on BA:
To learn, enjoy friends, drink beer and have some damn fun. It's an odd little club to many I suspect. Show what you do in your spare time to anyne that doesn't get craft and they think you're insane. Ain't it great!
Anyhow the Prince untimely death is really leaving in ache in my heart. I think back to the many musicains/ artists that have died too early and it always hurts when its the music that you'll never forget. Prominent ones for me have always been Lennon, Stevie Ray, BB King and alot of others. Musics always been part of my life so there is an empty space when these people leave. BUT the music never dies- as documented in the song by Don McLean. The first plane crash that really took three greats.......
So for today I picked a beer that I've been anxious to try. The brewery comes out of Worcester and is located in the former
Space of Wormtown Brewing. I felt the beer appropriate for my feeling today about the weather and also because the name of the brewery and the color scheme kind of fit the Prince theme. Enough yapping!

Flying Dreams Brewing - Dreaming of Summer American Saison.

The beer pours a Sunshine orange with a slight haze and a voluminous head with large soapy bubbles. The fades after a few into a concentric ring. spotty lacing lines the glass as the beer withdraws.

Great aromas of Saison yeast are intermingled with bright citrus notes of tangerine, orange and lemons. There is some grassy hop notes and some bready malt notes. Floral hop notes also present themselves.

Taste follows with a perfect balance of Saison yeast phenols, crisp citrus notes and grassy hops. Perfectly clean with no off flavors I find sometime in Saisons. A delicious and highly quaffable brew. It truly tastes of summer in a bottle.

Feel is well, exactly what they say on the bottle: light- crisp - tangy - refreshing. Finished with a nice hop bitterness and dry.

My first from Flying Dreams and its a good one. A finely crafted Saison with just the right touch of hops that is perfectly balanced for a nice refreshing experience. Not complex. Just plain and Farmhouse simple like the style should be. Great brew. Worth a try and re try if you can find it. Kudos FD.!!

No New Old Vinyl Sunday today because I wanted to share this song I heard on SNL from the tribute last night. They did a fantastic job on such short notice. Good music to me always moves you to emotion. Whether it be happy, sad, funny or it just brings back certain memories or feelings that have occurred in your life. To me a really good song brings tears to my eyes- not afraid to say it- and its not just the lyrics or the music, or the solo. Sometimes it's combination of them all-
That's the greatest. The song - "Ain't no fury like a women Scorned " was not even penned by Prince. I had had tears in my eyes when I watched this. It hit me as to how unbelievable a talent we lost. The guitar, the vocals, the showmanship - the raw talent. It's truly one of a kind. Please take a listen. One of the greatest/ guitarists performers of all time.
Hey folks- thanks for taking the time to listen [IMG] [IMG]

Out and about with my daughter, sister and father today. Visited Albuquerque's Botanical Garden which is always beautiful and then dropped in this nearby brewery called Ponderosa Brewing. I don't frequent it much because the beer isn't on the La Cumbre, Bosque and Marble level, but it's one of the few breweries that also has a full restaurant, it's spacious and open, has a kiddie area, and the beer is enjoyable. They also do a number of styles you'll rarely see at other Albuquerque breweries.

I had the Berliner Weisse. It had the expected and characteristic tartness alongside a a kolsch-like malt quality. A touch sweet and biscuity. Incredibly light, especially for any beer in Albuquerque, and it had a refreshing, easy-drinking quality. I found it easy enough to drink but the malt and tart combination didn't quite satisfy my itch. Too much malt presence maybe. Good but not something I'd race back for.

Spent the afternoon playing sports with my 8 and 5 year old nephews. Threw batting practice, hurled the football around, and even played backyard tennis. A pretty fun time.

Now I'm back at it for my second NBS and I'm taking shit up a notch on this one. Another pull from my nbs bif #3 and thanks to the great @Prager62 .

The beer is Wigsplitter, coffee/oatmeal stout, from 3 floyds brewing. It comes in at 7.7% and a bottle date of 2/18/16.

The pour is a sticky black color with subtle carbonation, and a fluffy tan head. The nose is pure and pungent coffee grinds. Right from the start the beer drinks big with lots of roasted malts upfront and a smooth and slightly bitter finish. Huge fresh coffee notes with vanilla, chocolate, lactose, and sugars. The mouth feel is moderate and slightly sticky. The alcohol is non-existent and it really drinks like an actual cup of coffee.

Overall, this is just an exceptional beer. A borderline 5 for me.

This Hefe pours a darker golden color. It is also somewhat cloudy. The head was frothy, and there is some lacing. The nose is a nice wheat smell. The Taste is got a mellow wheat flavor. It is very well balanced, and is delicious.

Back home and chilling at my bro's with one from a recent trip to Michigan. I've seen plenty of posts for this beer, so I picked up a six when I finally came across it at one of my go to stores. Popping the top on a twelve ounce can of 51k IPA by Blackocks Brewery in Marquette MI. The abv. is listed at 7% and I'm pouring it in my 13oz. tulip for the occasion.

Pours a hazy dark gold leaving a generous finger of soapy white foam. Not much going on with the smell. Some faint grapefruit, pine and grain. The flavor is floral in nature to start, followed by some grapefruit and pine. There's a hearty dose of slick malt in the finish. The feel starts light and slick, then finishes slightly bitter and dry.

A very good beer that's reminiscent of the old school IPA's with it's delicate balance of hops and malt. Easy drinking, good flavor, but I'd pass this for Two Hearted every time. My score was 3.88 / rDev -3.7%.

This may be my last today as I'm pretty beat from spending a day in the sun with two mutts. Here's the review, have yourself a great week.
