Found this little treat in the back of the fridge... bottled almost a year and a half ago. Still pretty tasty for a white stout. Cigar City/Hardywood Park- The Milkmaid

Beer #905 is Mr. Fusion by Short's Brewing Company -- a light IPA with mint and green tea.

Bottled about two months ago. $2 single bottle. Hm... a Short's beer I haven't had before? Auto-buy.

Appearance: This pours an unusual color -- a very hazy pale yellow. Not much of a head, but it is a bit on the creamy side. Lacing is pretty nice.

Smell: The smell is strange. Minty green tea, yes, but something about the malt smells a little corny to me, and it's throwing me off a little bit. Regardless of that, I don't hate it.

Taste: First sip, I see why this is panned by so many people. Wow. Intense bitterness with a super strong mint flavor. Truthfully, it tastes like some sort of cleaner, in a way. Bitter mint all the way through with just a faint amount of green tea near the end and in the aftertaste.

I am not a very picky beer drinker, but this is a bit much for me. The thing about experiments (such as this beer) is that sometimes things work, and sometimes things don't -- I don't think this works. Frankly, I'm surprised Short's decided to bottle this one. I'm a fan of strong flavors, but the hop bitterness with the overwhelming mint and lack of many actual hop flavors is not very pleasing.

The bottle has text reading, "It's working... it's working!"

I can assure you, it's not... at least not for me. A good beer to try once, but it's definitely not something I'd want a six-pack of.

Imgur has been messing up lately, hopefully these pictures all work.

Thunder over Louisville this past weekend!
Got to watch it all from an awesome spot. For those who don't know it's an all day air show in downtown Louisville right over the Ohio river that ends with the largest fireworks show in NA. There's also tons of good food and beer if you go to the right places! I was out in the sun too much so I ended up drinking more water than beer.

This is a panorama I took from where we were.

The next picture is a mystery beer I had at a restaurant downtown. Our waiter was in shambles and I ordered a KY bourbon barrel ale but that is not what I got haha

And finally a few shots of the fireworks

Don't mean to be negative but Mikkeller beers just don't hit right with me, at least the stouts. This one has a metallic/acrid flavor that I really can't get over. Anyhow, Happy Monday BA.

Good morning, all! A wee dram of ReDANKulous to start things off. I recapped this after drinking about half of it a couple of weeka ago. It didn't do too well, losing most of its carbonation. Still tastes okay, though.

Beer #906 is a beer that I bought a week or so ago and just remembered I had in my fridge... decided to open it up. Phantasmagoria by Prairie.

    (Wineandcheeseplace.com's picture)

$4 bottle... no bottling date, just a bizarre code. Not worried about it though -- this is a new release. Looking forward to this one. Love Prairie!

Appearance: Wasn't expecting that -- super hazy and pale yellow-gold color. Finger of a fluffy head and a nice amount of lacing.

Smell: Mostly candied tropical fruits. This is all over the place in a good way. Mango, pineapple, peach, starfruit, white grapes, citrus... holy hell, it's got it all. Not very "dank" at all, as there's only, I think, a subtle piney hoppiness in there that's underlying the candied fruits. Deliciously sweet.

Taste/feel: Seriously massive pineapple initially on my 'buds... almost all the way through. There's also something a bit different that I couldn't pinpoint. I notice a few other people saying garlic and/or onion... I can see that, actually. Definitely a bit of a summit hop vibe in there a little bit. Pineapple hop juice with some mango are the primary flavors, though, with the oniony/garlicky thing taking a back seat. Near the end and in the aftertaste there's a slight dank and piney hop flavor, but it's only slightly bitter... this is certainly a sweeter DIPA. The lingering flavor is sweet malts and pine. The feel is about medium, but with a very nice sticky slickness to it. Super drinkable with virtually no alcohol warmth, and zero alcohol in the flavor.

I'm not a huge fan of pineapple (I know, I know), and that's what I get blasted with when this beer first hits my lips... so that isn't my favorite part about this beer. What I love about Phantasmagoria is the aroma, the other flavors past the pineapple, and its mouth feel. This is a really nice, quite unique tasting DIPA that I highly recommend and think anyone who likes a sweeter IPA ought to enjoy.

The perfect beer after a grueling session of physical therapy. I'm going to enjoy this funky, tart, refreshing Colorado delight with some cheese and crackers while the birds happily serenade me in the background. The Trillium are fading fast with the unseasonably warm weather. Such a beautiful flower that vanishes all too quickly.
