Michigan native here, but I've been living in Missouri for the past 8 years or so. I've heard a lot of good things about Short's, and I'd like to try a couple of their offerings when I'm back in the mitten this summer. What would you guys recommend I track down?

Get some Goodnight Bodacious. If you can;t find Superfluid (and you probably won't), get the Huma.

I would wait till shortly before you are going to be there and ask then, you will have a better idea of what is available at that time.

This release schedule should help you decide what might still be on store shelves when you visit here. https://www.shortsbrewing.com/2016 bottle-release-schedule/ Watch this forum for a thread that announces the release of each specialty to the distributor. These beers will usually start to show up in stores about a week later, depending on which distributor or area of the state. Most specialties don't last more than two weeks on the shelves of the high-volume stores, but some can still be found for a few weeks longer in quiet stores.

This is sound advice - Just revive this thread when you arrive if you need help on where/how to track stuff down, etc. You're gonna get the help you need in this local forum - guaranteed

Where are you in MO? I'm the opposite (MO native, live in MI) and travel down a few times a year. I can always bring down the latest stuff if you are along my route.

He would probably do best getting the most current releases this summer rather than drinking 6+ month old hoppy beers.

    This.

I just drank my last Superfluid the other day and it's not nearly as good as it is fresh.

Shorts dates their bottles on the neck so whatever you find on the shelves will be dated and help you with your decision.

Then again, blackberry steel reserve is always fresh if you're into cough syrup and gut rot

Very true. In college I consumed copious amounts of Ol' Steely. So when I saw the blackberry version a few years ago, I had to try it. It was a little like giving yourself a horrible disease so you can test the effectiveness of a cutting edge treatment you had just developed - that is to say somewhat masochistic, but all in the name of science.

Nothing wrong with downing a few Steelies, Natty Daddy's, Icehouse Edges, or Hurricanes when you feel the need to get fucked up real quick
