What's your issue with that? If a variant has added flavors that are unpleasant to you, isn't that a crappy variant (at least for you)? It is certainly possible that the all mighty Dark Lord can be made into a crappy variant...so what's your issue?

Just because you don't like peppers doesn't mean the variant is crappy. Its just not something you like. Also, how can we know if anything is bad before we've tasted anything. I'm sure some wont be great but to already be in the mindset that you're going to get a crappy variant is so gross.

I usually love beers with Chilies - Hunahpu, Mayan Mocha, Abraxas...

Those all have things other than just chilies to balance it out, Muerte does not.

DL Muerte and Conquistador Muerte are both great (when they aren't infected).

Honestly, I'd rather people go in with that fear then go in trying to grab the variant they think will trade/sell for the most (the "least crappy" variant, I suppose :stuck_out_tongue:). I rarely refer to beers as "crappy," but we all have our own hyperbolic ways to describe shit.

Ok this is the 2nd time in less than 24 hours I have seen this argument on this thread, lol. The last time we heard the forum version of "you wanna take this outside" or "private message me to discuss"

I do not like peppers in beers. I would consider muerte crappy personally, but others probably love it. To each their own. But judging by the left over 2015, I'm gunna assume I'm not the only one. I'm also gunna assume that dark lord + peppers = epic dookie. Maybe even a dookulear explosion.

It's all a matter of perspective. There are lots of things that at least some people like that would get described as crappy by many. A person could type "to me" every time they say "crappy", but that gets tiresome. I would have thought it was obvious that the "to me" was implied.

I believe there is a whiskey bar in the Hampton inn parking lot in Munster. Not sure if they are open for breakfast

Actually by extension, Muerte has coffee, Mexican vanilla, and Indian sugar. Instead of coffee, Huna has cinnamon and cacao.

I think one reason people praise Huna is it does a great job of completely murdering the flavor of pepper while keeping some level of heat.

I can't speak to what Muerte is like, as I've yet to try any DL variant.

As long as the chili flavor is more of a backbone and not overpowering, it can be an excellent addition to a heavy, coffee/chocolate/vanilla stout. Bomb & Malevolence Caliente are two incredible beers that use chili. For me, they provide a minor warmth going down and seem to open up the taste buds a bit. I, for one, would be pleased if there's a muerte for the picking in Group D. Earlier groups, please pick the variants with cardamom.

Almost on the corner of Ridge Rd. and Calumet is a place called The Commander. Good breakfast! If you are coming off of 80/94, turn right on Ridge. Munster Donut is right at that intersection if you don't want to sit and wait for breakfast.

To @Jplachy's credit, there's a good chance the variants will be really good. They are made in God's Country afterall!

Hell hath no fury like a DLD attendee receiving a random variant. My goodness how the tenor of the thread can change from pleasant musings on what beers will be shared in line & other aspects of DLD camaraderie to a sudden rage where some folks decry potentially being 'forced' to spend $50 on a bottle they might not want and others all ready to feign pepper allergies if the situation requires. Of course 99.9% of these people would have purchased DLD tickets regardless of how variants are ultimately allocated but that's such a minor detail. Nick, if you are reading this by some chance. Let's randomize these f#$kin' variants!
