Good Sunday morning and Happy May Day BAs! My first time starting this thread. A cloudy rainy day here in SE Mich. I probably will get some movie watching in today.

Starting the day off with my first bottle of Uncle Jacob's Stout by Avery Brewing. At 17.1 ABV this is one big beer. A very heavy bourbon flavored stout. Definitely a sipper.

    Cheers all...

Good morning BA, have a great Sunday!

Excellent stuff as always. Big juicy pineapples; with hop flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, mango, lemon/orange peel, and pine; with light-moderate honey/bready malt and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness; smooth and crisp finish; moderately sticky/resinous mouthfeel. Good dryness on finish with zero hop or fruit astringency. I wouldn't put this over Regular, Grapefruit, or even Habanero; but I still love it anyways. Great balance of the pineapple puree and classic Sculpin hop character; with good hop vibrancy.

Excellent English winter warmer. Big flavors of raisin, plum, fig, cherry, pear, apple, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toasted biscuit, and light nutty/roast maltiness; with moderate herbal, floral, pepper, piney hop notes; with a bit of yeasty earthiness. Light-medium pine/spicy bitterness; with a very smooth finish with balanced creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. This keeps getting better and better with more age. Perfectly balanced between malt, yeast, and hop flavors now, after 7+ months of age. Yet it still sits on the shelf. I will be getting some more, this was my last bottle.

Incredible saison! Flavors of big lemon zest, grapefruit, pear, pineapple, peach, orange peel, pepper, and clove; with moderate wheat, cracker, bready malt; with floral/grassy hop and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast spice and grassy bitterness; smooth/crisp finish; with some wheat creaminess and light hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Medium-high carbonation and nice dryness. Super glad to have this as a go-to saison now, they just showed up here this month. I’d put this right up with Ommegang Hennepin. Top tier saison. Great use of hops to impart complexity, without actually feeling too hoppy.

Fantastic batch this year, just as delicious as the first release. Flavors of huge dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, bourbon, oak, and light dark fruit. Light roasted bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with a really great balance of the coffee/cocoa, malt, and barrel flavors; along with roasted coffee bitterness/sweetness after the finish. Medium-full bodied with a great creamy/silky mouthfeel. Looking forward to the next release. The Raspberry and Chai are my favorites of all of the variations so far, but they are all worth buying regardless. A Raspberry-Lemon version is coming soon too, can’t wait to try that.

New Moonsorrow album is the complete equivalent to Varisakeet as far as song structure and overall quality. Incredible as usual.

New Haken album is amazing too. Their 15+ minute epics always deliver.

Good dreary morning, all! Starting off with this ET Ashtray Heart. Smoky and bitter, perfect accompaniment for this cold and drizzly weather. Review at NBS later.

Dr. Hoptagon from Pariah in the Big Easy came to me via a trade. It is a hoppy, bitter, and smoky black IPA.

It's amazing that you can take a one off version of something bottled about 3 weeks later and then compare it to the original 3 weeks older and they both blow you out of the water...

I couldn't think of a more fitting place to drink my final Heady from @cavedave than beside a roaring river in the mountains of Tennessee. I'll follow directions this time! Wet and gloomy weather to start, but the sun is occasionally trying to peek through the clouds.

Good morning BAs! Another typical day herein NW PA - cold, cloudy, and damp. Today's cross post with NBS is:

Seems really hot - but I gots to say it mellows out over time - apparently the alcohol evaporates - to become smoother after an hour in the glass.
