    Ditto on the Negra Modelo although a Bohemia Obscura might do in a pinch.

    Corona? Considering it's a celebration of Mexico defaulting on their debt

    I'm seeing more Cinco-style options in Southern California as the brewery count continues to grow. Just last weekend at the Sabroso Beer & Taco Festival I had;

    • Left Coast Brewing ~ Una Mas (San Clemente, CA)
    • Tustin Brewing ~ El Chingon (Tustin, CA)
    • Ska Brewing ~ Mexican Logger
    In addition, some recent entries into the market;
    • Oscar Blues ~ Beerito
    • Bootlegger's Brewing ~ Chango (Fullerton, CA)
    • TAPS Fish House & Brewing ~ El Moreno (Brea, CA)
    For me however, Cinco is like St. Patrick's day. I'm off the street plenty early in deference to the amateurs.

    I like the Bon Appetit article. Too often these lists (not Bon Appetit's specifically, but more generally) are filled with white whales that are impossible to get -- without acknowledging their rarity.

    So it is refreshing to have a list that is truly democratic/accessible. Nice work.

    Huge fan of the Third Rail Bodega. Tecate came in third in the ranking for me, btw. Cheers!

    Sierra Nevada Otra Vez gose is apropos for Cinco de Mayo.

    This beer was delicious and also really fits the theme (since apparently there's a theme):

    Fonta Flora's Sal de Gusano.

    Also, even 5 years ago I found Cucapá in NYC, so I wouldn't be surprised if you could find some of their beers if you looked hard enough (had it at a Mexican spot in the LES).

    I think I'd rather drink a good mezcal than a cheap beer if I really felt the urge to drink something from Mexico on Cinco de Mayo. That or the gifted, unopened bottle of sotol I brought back from Chihuahua.

    Going to try one of my BCBS to test for "infection". It's all for science

    Both of my infected barleywines did kind of remind me of a margarita now that you mention it.

    Cinco de Mayo is one of the days of the year that I skip the bars for sure. Tons of amateurs and higher than normal DUI patrols.

    The weather is supposed to be cooler than normal here in Northeastern PA, so I might have a couple of nice stouts or barleywines in the safe confines of my home.

    Considering I'm out of 'drinking' beer and money, I'll continue the terrifying trend I've set in recent days of pulling from my meager cellar.
