If the bar/brewery says it's OK, how is it inconsiderate? As opposed to sitting down next to someone at a bar who insists on talking to you? Maybe I just want quietly watch the game, read the paper, do a crossword, or just relax with a damn beer, why should I forced to listen to some jackhole yammer on about shit I don't care about?

I'm currently WAY too caught up in this thread but loving your pet as much as a person is totally ok. Just because you've never felt that way doesn't mean others who do are "unhinged" pets can help people get through some of the darkest times in their lives and can be learned from like a human.
Military and police dogs are treated just like humans, killing one is murder and they get full blown funerals and medals and honors.
Remember folks just because you don't share someones view point doesn't mean they are wrong and definitely doesn't mean anything is wrong with them. Hell if you judge someone and can call them crazy for loving a caring soul who's been nothing to good for them for 10 years just because that caring soul has four legs maybe your the one with mental problems.

I prefer the company of dogs to most people.

"Dog Friendly/Kid Friendly" taprooms are annoying. We no longer go to breweries on the weekends because of this. Breweries are for tasting beer and being adults, not babysitting kids and barking dogs...

I think there are enough dog friendly and non-dog friendly establishments that everyone should be able to have a drink at whichever they prefer. I think those who are complaining about dogs are barking up the wrong tree (ha!, I crack me up). I’m sure the owners are dog people and don’t really care if you decide to go elsewhere because of it. Just go to a bar that doesn’t allow dogs, problem solved…

Sorry but with all the madness in the world today, I just can't really rank people who love their animal family members as much as their human family members as "unhinged".

@ShyRonnie is killing it here and I am supposed to be studying for my CPA so I gotta tap out but just assume I cosign everything he says from here on out. Thanks guys.

    Woof!

I've got no problem with dogs on the patio, but keep them on the patio.
No need for dogs to be walking around indoors at a brewery/bar.

I'd sacrifice every dog in America to save one human child. No contest.

The last time I went to Marble Brewing in Albuquerque, and it will be the last time, there were at least a dozen dogs(some of them mastiff sized) on the patio. The dogs on either side of me were snarling at each other, there was a dog under the table licking my leg. I don't want to have to deal with dogs or other pets while I'm trying to relax and have a beer. It has nothing to do with dogs, I love dogs and cats, but a beer bar is not the place to inflict your need to take your pet everywhere on the rest of us.

Flawed indeed. I can't say I have ever seen anything like that. That is ridiculous!

This is a solid point. There aren't many (any?) of these types of establishments around me in MA, so I'm having some trouble wrapping my head around it. If one of my local watering holes all of sudden became overrun with dogs and their overly attached owners, I would do as you suggest and simply stop going there.

There's only a couple places I know for sure its ok to bring dogs in Nashville. Like I said before, its a big hit and those establishments make it well known they're dog friendly. They have treats and special things for dogs on certain days. I'm sure if a few people are turned off by this and go elsewhere they're not losing any sleep over it.

My dogs are definitely part of my family. Asheville, Ithaca, and Austin are different than many cities, in a damned good and healthy way. Methinks our social "scientist" doth protest too much about sociopaths.

Haha I appreciate it but i'm done here now as well. I might pop back in post test but I probably won't care or have the energy then... Anyways, time for statistics..
    Cheers all!

I've lived in Asheville for over two years, visited many dog friendly breweries and have never once felt like there were too many or that their presence was impeding on mine.

I think as owners / managers at the brewer it is fine to allow dogs in the facility but if it gets super crowded and you have a random day where everyone seems to have decided to bring their dogs, then I'd make an announcement that its over capacity and all the dogs need to go outside. Seems like a case by case management decision can be easily made.
