Flip flops and dogs, just more examples why drinking at home makes sense!

Bud. You are throwing out a red herring that involve the death of tens of millions of living animals (that contribute and detract from society in a range that stretches from hero, through companion, all the way down to nuisance) just to prove a point that I shouldn't love my dog as much as other members of my family.

    Who's unhinged again?

Did you read the part about dogs sacrificing themselves for you (military and police)!?
Also I have encountered plenty of entitled snot nosed little *** running around and doing far more damage than good in this world (normally with parents who are the same way). I would for sure push one of them in front of a bus to save all the furry friends out there that are actually helping people!
Anyways it's been fun but it's test time.

Just for the record I don't have and have never had a dog or pet, whether that be growing up as a kid or in life now. You all think i'm some crazy dog person, rather I don't get offended by everything and everyone in society and don't think peoples freedoms should be limited because they chose to raise and care for a dog. Just like your freedom isn't limited by your snot nosed booger flicking kid sitting at the bar.

And as iv'e said there are exceptions. If a dog pisses on the bar that's an issue, but it's no different then if you or your snot nosed dumbass kid did it!:stuck_out_tongue::sunglasses:
    Cheers!

EDIT: Just saw your name and couldn't believe someone with "husky" in their name would say that. Then I realized it's probably in reference to the pant size you buy for you and the kiddos.

So many comments. How about some places are dog friendly and some aren't, and people can be aware of which they are going to.

Me, I don't mind one bit. Then again, I volunteered at a shelter.

Odds are a police dog will have a much greater affect on society over 10 years than one person will have over 80+ years. So yes, that was a terrible thing to say.

My opinion is that I will continue bringing my dog to bars/breweries that allow them. It make her happy and makes me happy. Dogs are always happy...people not so much. Are you annoyed my dog is hanging out with me? Fine, I'll go outside. You're probably no fun to hang around anyways.

I also don't understand the flip flop hate. You try and wear regular shoes around here in July! Nobody likes foot sweat. Plus, why are you staring at my feet anyways?

But 100% of dog breeds want to sniff every ass in that joint, and will do so if given the chance. That's the real problem.

We've come full circle. I think the dog people have finally won.

Like many issues (especially among those discussed on the internet), the conflict between many of the people involved seems to have escalated far beyond what small actual differences there are between them. Let me humbly give my summary of this discussion and the people involved:

People who don't like dogs and don't want to be around them at a bar - These are normal human beings and they definitely have many places they can go to and drink happily. They probably have a lot in common with the other two groups outside of views on dogs. I would happily have a beer with most people in this group.

People who like dogs but don't want to be around them at a bar - This is probably the majority of people. They are normal human beings and they definitely have many places they can go to and drink happily. They probably have a lot in common with the other two groups, including views on dogs. I would happily have a beer with most people in this group.

People who like dogs and like to take them to the bar - These people are normal human beings and, depending on where they live, there are bars they can go to and drink happily with dogs. A minority of them might love their dogs as much as people, and although that is a little difficult for many people to relate to (including myself), it doesn't make them bad or "crazy" people. They probably have a lot in common with the other two groups outside of views on dogs. I would happily have a beer with most people in this group.

It depends on where you are-good beer bars are not distributed evenly across the country. If I'm in Albuquerque and craving a fresh Marble beer, that's where I have to go to get it, dogs or not.

Dang...how do you know my kids??? That line made me laugh when I read it quickly...

Seriously, as an owner of rescued dogs and cats, I love the critters but they stay at home. When we had Boston terriers, they would travel with us, but not to restaurants or bars. Come to think of it, never took the kids to bars when they were young either. So much depends on the owner/parent, but as much as I love my own pets, it never occurred to me to bring the dogs to a restaurant or bar. Not sure how I feel about it, but I'm tending towards the inappropriate unless facilities exist or its an outdoor venue. I think of the risk too - most dogs are cool, but some (and some dog owners) are not.

@guinness77 - sincerely sorry to hear about your Shepherd. Two cats and one dog for us this year and one dog in the "make her comfortable" stage right now - can definitely understand.

It's the actal "flip-flop" noise they make. It's a fingernails on chalkboard sound for me. At least get sandals with an ankle strap so you can be stealthy.:sunglasses:

There have been a ton of these places popping up around the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. I think even our baseball stadium Chase Field is going full pet friendly starting next season. Not sure how I feel about that yet!

Sounds like some of the places I've been but they weren't dogs.

I think that what some folks are missing is that there probably aren't a whole lot of folks who pack up the dog in the car, and take him down to the brewery. It's more likely that folks are coming back from walking the dog (so, the poop/pee issue going to be largely eliminated), or out doing their daily errands: going to the store, checking the mail, going to the bank, etc. If someone is coming back from the beach, dog park, whatevs, chances are the dog stays in the car.

When I was a kid I was bit by two dogs. The first dog was a Bichon (I was about 7 years old). I was trying to pet it. It lunged at me and bit my face then ran off. I had to get stiches for the bite and a series of rabies shots in my stomach because the dog ran off and the police could not find it. The shots were needed just to be safe just in case it was rabid. My dad, to this day, said taking me daily, for I think about two weeks, to the doctor for the series of shots was the hardest thing he every had to do as parent. I cried a pleaded I was okay. The second dog was a German Shepherd (was about 14 years old). It latched on to my calf something fierce. If I hadn’t had jeans on I would have been in real trouble. Luckily my friend found a handy large rock and got it off me. No rabies shots this time but it was one scary event for me. Since my childhood my policy became never trust any dog. I actually I like dogs and find them beautiful intrinsically, I just prefer not to mingle with them. These two unfortunate events helped to shaped my opinion, so If dogs are welcome I guess I am not and I am okay with that.
