The little things you love...

I love criticizing breweries and their beers...oh, sorry, positive things, right. Um...I love bottle releases cuz you usually get to bottle share with friends and likeminded out-of-towners and there's a sense of camaraderie and fellowship but hey, what's up with that guy that was at the front walking bottles to the back of the line for another shot? And hey, that guy totally cut the line cuz he's buddies with someone up there. What a dick. What do you mean you ran out of bottles 10 minutes ago?! Oh wait, sorry, got carried away again. Thinking positive...I love Goose Island

 

I love going to North Country Brewery in Slippery Rock with my old SRU buddies and drinking pitchers of Paleo or Bucksnort Stout and reliving our glory days by the fireplace out back.

 

I hope my wife doesn't respond to this.

 

Honest, open smiles, kisses from a child......

I love pouring an ounce of Utiopias for a beer lover who has never tasted it, and then watching the facial expression.

 

I love when I pop the cork on a nice gueuze and hear it crackling like soda as I pour it.
I love the smell I get from dry hopped "Sours"
I love when an IPA just comes togther so well and reminds me why I really love the style.
I love that felling when I get home from work and know I have a beer waiting in my fridge for me just calling my name.
I love shopping for beer in general could spend hours at the store haha.

 

I love the hunt...not necessary tracking down a whale or special release, but the hunt of your next catch. The next beers you want to try that aren't so unobtainable at your local beer store.

I love knowing that I have beer mail coming and following the delivery.

I love not knowing what is in the beer mail and being surprised when open.

I love the first and last sips the most. Equally and for different reason. First sip is anticipation, relief (imagine a cold beer on a hot day), focusing all senses on the beer. And the last sip for the pure enjoyment of said beer.

I love getting to know BA's and being a part of this community.

I love knowing I have a new beer in the fridge to enjoy after work.

• Sharing great beers with friends to see what we all think
• That "warm, fuzzy" feeling you get after getting through most of a high-ABV beer
• The smell of a great IPA
• Revisiting a classic and seeing that I still love it after my palette changed

Some of the little things that I love:

Drinking good beers with my brothers.
Enjoying a beer while sitting by the fire pit or while laying back looking up at the stars on a warm summer night
Conversations at the "virtual bar", WBAYDN
Hooking people up with beers they haven't had
New friendships that were formed through here. Even @SomethingClever
A Reds game on the radio with a good old lager from the bottle or can
Visiting a brewery/taproom for the first time
Beer shopping in a large store (The Party Source) with no time constraints
BIFs and surprise beer mail
The aroma from the mash tun in a brewery (especially Thirsty Dog)
A breakfast beer

 

I love spending my tiny pay check on delicious beer!

 

i love cracking open a beer and yelling "Mango and pineapple!"
i love when i remember every once in a while to drink a classic and wonder what took so long

also i love seeing guys that look like @cavedave and wanting to ask if its him (even at funerals. i know, I'm wierd)

 

Yes I've asked if we could move away from some threads-sorry-didn't mean to sound punky or offend anyone.
I love the effect of what having beer in my life does for me.
I love sharing a good beer with friends-it brings us closer together.
I love the simple joy that 12 ozs. can bring you after a bad day.
I love the fact that 'new beers' will be infinite;I can always enjoy a new,different beer.
I love that I can create my own special beer-and people like it.

 

I love the smell of the first hop dump into the kettle.
I love watching a vigorous ferment in a carboy.
I love the anticipation of the first sip of a beer you made.

 

-I love that I've never had IPAs so fresh until I started working at a liquor store that emphasizes freshness
-pairing the right beer with the right food
-turning people on to good beer, be it friends, family, customers, or even neighbors
-beering it forward
-the time you need to spend contemplating a beer like FW's XIX, or a special release

 

- The feeling you get when you open up the box you got in trade,
- The first sip after a long day
- Cracking a cold one after the yard work is done and the car is washed

 

Oh, forgot one-
I love the fact that I'll have homebrew to send to people on BA very soon.

• I love seeing all of the 'old friends' I've met over the years because of beer. Whether we see each other weekly, monthly or only a couple times per year...we can always catch up over our favorite beverage.
• I love being able to openly and publicly acknowledge the many mentors I've had in my life. Getting older and developing the ability to check the ego at the door and give credit to others is one of life's most unexpected gifts.
• I love meeting new friends over a beer...heck, we already have one major thing in common, right?
• I love talking with Brewers about their creations and hearing the love and passion for what they do. Surprisingly, the makers of 'Big Beer' are just as obsessive and fanatical as the brewpub Brewer in your hometown.
• I love the Publicans who strive every day to deliver beer to the consumer exactly as the brewer intended it. From clean draught lines to beer-ready (proper) glassware, these folks work tirelessly to bring us the very best of the brewers art.

• Last, and certainly not least, I love beer...each and every style. After all, it brings us together (virtually) every day.

Looking over my list, it's no surprise to me that my favorite thing about beer is the people. As a sales-trainer, part-time brewer and beer dinner executioner (!), none of this would happen without people.



We were just discussing this yesterday; despite all of the brewing innovations and technology which has re-shaped portions of this great business, one great truth still exists:

"Beer is still sold the same way today as it was before Prohibition...and that is via relationships. Virtually every tap handle you see at the bar is the product of a relationship, and the same goes for the six-pack or bomber on the shelf of a beer store."
