Any reports of Rare being infected or oxidized? Moved all my remaining bottles in the fridge and plan to drink soon.

They key point in your post is that some "therefore tasted fine". They have to figure out a way to address the issue that it appears that some, maybe a significant majority, are fine. Do they offer blanket refunds for everyone if only, say 17% of the bottles have an issue? The fact that this looks to be spotty yet still spread across almost the entire, if not the entire, set of bottling dates really complicates the issue for them. They may be owned by inBev, but they may be run as a separate entity and offering refunds for every bottle of '15 BCBS may break their back. If only a subset are bad, that's a particularly bum deal.

My guess is that they're trying to figure out what the cause is and if there's a way to know which bottles are bad so that they can accurately control the refunds. This would be much simpler if there weren't a whole slew of people saying "I opened my xx/xx dated bottle and it was fine" while others with the same date are saying it was undrinkable.

BTW - my friend opened a '15 BCBW last night and reported that it was great...no issues (and not stored in a fridge).

opened a oct 20 last night and it was a bit smoother when I had it on draft in Nov/Dec, but tasted great. Some more time and I think this will be drinking awesome. I think it's possible people just think the flavor profile is off even though it's not. There's a lot of flavors going, but I don't taste anything off.

I think there are some that are obviously off. When people are drain pouring them...people who've had and love BCBS, I think it's clear some are effed up.

I continue to have zero issues with '15 BCBS. All of mine was purchased in NYC at Whole Foods and is drinking awesome! I've been drinking one bottle a week for the past few months. I've had my fair share of infections with other beers like Hipster Brunch and BA Mayan Mocha unfortunately.

I agree. Some are messed up, but the regular BCBS issues are not nearly as ubiquitous as the coffee and BW variants. So people go on the witchhunt and it goes viral.

i can understand this & agree, in the end it might be too much for them to handle in sheer refunds. i'm not unsympathetic. what i do think is agitating a lot of folks is the manner in which GI received/responded to the earlier inquiries. particularly when putting into context what's already transpired with other variants.

until recently i've remained pretty neutral on GI's handling/response. but i want to mention something else i feel pretty strongly about. it appears at the distribution level here, GI has not issued a recall on barleywine. some mom & pops i frequent received unsolicited deliveries of 5 or more cases of BW as late as April. it's product they didn't order/request that is being sandwiched in their regular delivery. it's up to them to catch, refuse and go through the motions of having the cost removed from the invoice. about 2 weeks back, 1 owner told me this scenario happened 3 times since January. when i read the testimonials here of how GI responded, it strikes me as another instance of : The response to the issues could & should be handled better/differently.

For what it's worth, I just cracked open a bottle of regular BCBS, bottled Sept 30 & 13.7 % abv, and it was totally normal. I only post to reassure others in the Denver area because I only chose to open this bottle after becoming concerned by the issues raised in this thread. All of my bottles were from the same batch, so we might be ok.

I opened a 2009 and a 2015 for comparison. The 09 is still drinking great, but the 2015 was noticeably tart, both in the aroma and taste. This is my 2nd 11/04 that was off. I am very disappointed that this issue keeps getting bigger and Goose Island is choosing to play some of us for fools. I wish I had good bottles because I love this beer when it is right, but I am 0 for 3 in 2015 bottles between coffee and regular. I still have a barley wine and a hand full of regular, and a rare. I will open my Rare sooner than I had planned, if that is bad and Goose does not step up, then they will have lost me as a customer. There are too many other good to great barrel aged stouts to risk playing Russian roulette with AB InBev.

Last bottle I opened was a 30-SEP and it was starting to develop off flavors. Opened another 30-SEP last night and it was fantastic.

The inconsistency is getting out of hand

JK made a mention in another thread about GI using AB breweries for their beers. So how many locations is BC being brewed in? If it's multiples can the infection be traced to one location over another? If it's only one it still looks so random. I kinda skipped around, so if the was discussed previously sorry about that.

I'm pretty sure all bcbs and it's variants are brewed and barrel aged in Chicago only. I don't think they have any barrel facilities anywhere else.

I wasn't sure, I was thinking the increased distribution might be attributed to using multiple facilities. We still don't get a lot of Bourbon County but it beats not getting any. Maybe it's something they might consider in the future.

The increased distribution results from increased warehouse space at the Chicago facility (which had an equipment upgrade) as well as access to the ABInBev distriution chain. The core flagship beers are brewed elsewhere now.

I'm having one right now that was bottled on 11/04 and its frigging delicious. Smooth as hell, no tartness at all. Its at room temp right now and still no hint of tartness or any off flavors. All my bottles were/are 11/04. Plan on letting the remaning sit for 1-2 years. Sorry for your bad luck, but I dont think all bottles from the 11/04 run are bad.

Just opened a Nov 4th bottle, had some dark fruitiness to it, but was very good.
