Yeah, I know wine has been in cans for a while(but not the better ones!) Wow, just how do you drink a 12 oz of liquor and not get alky poisoning???

My point was, you RARELY see wine and liquor in cans as much as beer is.

I honestly prefer cans to bottles. But reading all these comments it really seems like mac vs pc. Emacs vs vi. Coke vs. Pepsi.

Just another topic for people to vigorously advocate on the internet, much to the total not-caring of the rest of the world.

Isn't a Keg effectively a large can? Do you avoid beer from Kegs as well?

Most places don't let you do a mix of six with cans. (I guess that could be changed.) Fancy beers won't move away from bottles because of the image. I actually like the bomber format sometimes and there isn't really a can equivalent. (I've seen those giant, greater than 16 oz cans, but I don't think they are convenient.) The no BPA think is pretty important.

The heavy bottles help limit my spending because I grab a basket and I have to leave when it gets too heavy.

Brown bottles can still be light struck and skunked, happened to me a few times espescially when left directly under interior light for a while. IMO, the best pro to cans is no lightstruck.

I dont taste metal. Last time I checked drinking straight from a bottle wasnt classy and once it's poured into a glass who cares where it came from?

Well, I will always prefer bottles, just like I will always prefer Coke over Pepsi.

Except kegs are not made from the same aluminum that cans are.

    So we've got so far:
    Pros
Light blocking (medium pro due to brown bottles lasting a while)
More durability and lower weight (important in trading)
Cost savings for the brewer (I assume, outside of the canning line purchase the cost per can is lower than bottle)
    Compactness and stackability

    Cons:
    No mix and match
BPA (very small con based on reserach if a con at all)
No putting homebrew in them (only pry-off bottles have this advantage)
Not a good weapon in bar fights
Metal taste?? (very debatable, not really a con if you pour it out too)

As a beer drinker cans are definitely looking good.
As a homebrewer bottles take the win.

Have I wasted enough time at work yet? It's Friday after all

That's a shame. Luckily for me, it's INCREDIBLY rare for me to encounter beers that are noticeably "skunked" or light struck in brown glass bottles.

Every bottle shop (hehe) I goto has cans in their mixed six cooler.
For real, dales, modus, and ten fidy are all phenom brews that may even suffer from being bottled. I have had some old modus hoperandis and never experienc,ed hop falloff...

Done 2 side by side tastings with Ranger IPA now (travelled almost 1000 miles, and the can was a couple weeks older). The can tasted fresher, and the hop flavor and aroma had remained stronger. I assume storage and everything are the same, but there are other factors that I may not be aware of.
