What a superb beer. However, at 10% and on an empty stomach (and little hydration) it kinda kicked my ass

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! We are supposed to get some storms today, but I hope it isn't too bad. I was hoping to go on a bike ride later on. Here is what I am drinking this morning:

Incredible as always. Flavors of juicy grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, melon, passion fruit, berry, lemon/orange zest, and light pine hops; with moderate caramel/toasted bready malt and herbal/floral/grassy hops earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy bitterness; smooth finish with balanced hop stickiness and bready creaminess in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness. Has all the mosaic and citra hop flavors I love with balanced bready malts. Glad I decided to revisit this beer, a top favorite IPA for sure.

Always excellent. Big rich flavors of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, toasted dark bread, caramel, toffee, molasses, fudge, and light smoke/char/coffee; with some herbal/spicy hops and hints of dark fruits. Bittersweet balanced finish; with a creamy/silky medium bodied mouthfeel; with some light hop/roast malt stickiness. Highly complex and extremely delicious. This is one of many Bell’s beers I wish was not a seasonal.

Mind blowing amazing. Flavors of big nutty roasted coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, and light smoke/dark fruit; with some herbal/woody hop and coffee characteristics. Light herbal and roasted coffee bitterness; full-ish body creamy mouthfeel, with some sticky/chalky roast notes as well. Light roasted dryness, slowly increasing through the glass. Lightly warming finish; incredibly smooth. This is one of the most coffee forward beers I've had. The distinct complexity coming from just the Sumatra coffee is enormous.

Amazing as usual. Big flavors of cinnamon, mint, nutmeg, ginger, clove, vanilla, coffee, and cream; with balanced milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toast, and dark bread malt sweetness; with some herbal/spice earthiness. Light-moderate herbal spice/roast bitterness; with a bittersweet balanced finish with a fantastic creamy/silky medium-full body. Very smooth sipping. This was my last Christmas Bomb for the year. Will definitely buy many more with this year's release. Hope they don't change the recipe too much, but it'll probably still be amazing. Need to grab some more regular bomb again soon, glad to have it as a shelf beer all the time.

    Cheers

This one's on my radar; love coffee and enjoy coffee forward beers. Recently had the Cassian Sunset, and it was coffee forward, but at the expense of the others flavors. Seemed forced, inauthentic. So, I'll BOLO Sumatra; thanks for sharing.

Mowed the lawn and now I'm sitting in the back, tossing a stick to my dog, and enjoying a fresh Orval under the blueist sky England has seen in many many months.
No pics...it is just too nice a day to fuck around with that...

Started earlier with a FBS. Weather is set to be warm and sunny all weekend. About to go and browse my local bottle shop for a couple of crisp easy drinkers to enjoy this afternoon.

Another one from last night. Had seen many people drink it here but had rarely seen it in my local shops (surprisingly given that I live less than 10 miles away from Victory). Very nice and refreshing!

It's actually the middle of the night here. One of the joys of being in Hawai'i! The other joy is seeing this (sunset at the HI State Track Meet, hosted by Kamehameha School)

Came home and enjoyed a cold Pliny, from my trip to LA last weekend. Found a few in the corner of a fridge at a shop, they let me have a couple. Good people.

Flavor is full on Lager with the smooth seamlessness of that type beer. Malt apparent without being really malt forward underscored by roasted grain with a hop veneer that covers but does not conceal the beer beneath. I could do with a bit more malt and a touch less roast grain bitterness but all in all it's a keeper.

A relatively new style for me (last year or so) and this is the best of the handful I've tried so far. More stuffing than a traditional lager yet very approachable beer for the "Ew, it's too dark" recent graduates of the BMC school.

Birthday party for the three year old today, so I understand the excitement that got two kids up at 645.
We're no dummies, though, we're all downstairs watching Phineas&Ferb while mommy is still sleeping.
Daddy is drinking coffee and this energy drink.
It's not Dark Lord, but for a Saturday, it'll do.
Burn some witches, Advocates. Happy Saturday.

Wait. That's NOT an energy drink?

Beautiful day shaping up here in Austin. I hope to check out the AHA home brew event later today with the local club. First, some coffee:

This is light years better than Terrapin's Sumatran coffee stout. I had pretty low expectations going in, but this comes close to an FBS quality brew for me. Will definitely pick up more if I get the chance. Have a great weekend, BAs.
