Bug Flies In Your Beer ... What Do YOU Do?!

Good grief, is that thing from District 9! What the heck is that thing! Sorry folks, that critter lands in my drink it is not to be sifted through either my palate or my teeth, let alone let it crawl on my finger to safety.

Do you deduct a half point From appearance or from the overall score for the dead bug when reviewing

 

That happened to me last night. It flew into my glass, and went bellyup into the goodness. So I tipped the glass to try to get it out. I couldn't. Drank some more. Tried again, and got it out.

 

This is pretty much my assessment except it would take the last of something very special for me to fish out a large bug and continue drinking. The last of a 6-pack or even the last beer in the house (that's unlikely though), it would have to be the last of an amazing beer I had no idea if I would ever have the opportunity to taste again. Those are the stakes I would need to be faced with to to drink a beer that I saw a large bug doing the backstroke in.

 

Down the hatch!

 

I usually finger it out and proceed but I have noticed however that higher ABV beers will have a bitter/chemical taste to them when a fly gets in there. Perhaps it's being dissolved? It has happened to a BCBS and a Parabola and I didn't realize the fly was there till after the taste had turned. Same taste both times only the second time I held the beer up to the light to find the fly and sure enough it was there. Poured both out.

 

Eeewwww. I don't know why exactly, but that's way worse than a live one landing in it.

 

Happened to me plenty of times. Used to live in less than desirable neighborhoods. Had everything from roaches in my Olde English to black flies in my Pliny. Grown numb to it. Flick em out and continue on.

 

I did have problem with yellowjackets attacking my beer in Germany quite a bit, my got stung at local fest as she didn't notice one settles on her glass; stung/bit her good in the ear

 

Remove bug, drink beer, move on to next beer.

 

If it's a mosquito I'll pick it out and continue drinking. If it's a fly I'll dispatch the little bugger, dump the beer and set the glass aside for later sanitation (there's a very good chance that fly was sitting on a turd before coming in for a drink). Then I'll go get another beer and a small plate to cover the top so to keep the wildlife out of it.

 

Get the bug to buy the next round, greedy bugger!

 

Ill dump it but that depends on how much ive had to drink. I might leave it there and eat it to be funny. But i usually carry my beer with me if its open and i tend to buy only cans in the summer to avoid bugs.

 

Since I'm of Scots/Irish descent...I'll drink the wee bastard if he won't spit it out.

 

Depends on the size/bug, but basically another vote for "protein".

 

Technically isn't the fly swimming or could be surfing during sips
