Went in yesterday since it was the first sunday of the month, and was told by staff that there are no more shares effective today. (May 1st) Bummer. I hadn't been to a share there in over 6 months but heard recently there was a share where the group took up a large table, and didn't really ring up much of a tab and didn't tip for shit. Oh well, it was a good run.

That share you are talking about wasn't by any of us. Me and 1 other showed up for the "normal" share that day and were the only 2 there. At the same time they had another huge share going on with no familiar faces at all. We only cracked 1 beer each and left that day.

It sucks when a few people take advantage of a places generosity. I have always felt incredibly grateful when places like Gingerman, Nobi, D&T etc let us do these things and always try to take care of the establishment. Either by ordering beer/food, cleaning up afterwards, making sure I don't get out of control (though that doesn't always work, but mostly), or better yet all the above, and luckily most the people that participate in the shares I go to do that as well.

It definitely wasn't the BA Monthly Share that led to the demise of sharing beer at Nobi. Most, if not all, of you guys take care of the staff and the establishment by ordering food, tipping well, and cleaning up after we were done. Maybe some day, we can do it again. Sucks when one group has to ruin it for the rest.

I'd like to continue our south of the loop monthly shares if anyone has any ideas or thoughts!

I haven't been yet, but Beers Looking At You might be a good option.

Just might be. I stopped in there on Sunday evening, pretty cool place geared for growler fills. There are a few large tables that could be occupied by a few enthusiasts like ourselves. Wonder what his stance on bottle shares would be since he also has an in-house bottle shop as well..

    Heard different opinions on them.
While they are a cool spot with solid drafts, i hear they charge you a few extra bucks per six bottles you buy, as some kind of fee, very bizarre if it's true.
Still never made it out to a Nobi share though so i'd be down.

Think it was if you broke up a six pack to mix and match if they weren't already singles. Could be wrong. I heard something of the same sort. Seems odd.

While that is a very awkward way to do so, all singles and mix your own sixers I've seen cost more than buying a complete 6 pack of any one of those beers. Maybe they're just adding the fee on the end vs per bottle ??

Yeah I can see that. I went to DQ mart and built a case of IPA's for my future son in law. Basically paid $75 for that case, but I get it, when they break a six pack open for convenience, you're going to pay more

Yeah beers looking at you charges $2 extra for every sixer you make. I think D&Q has a mixed sixer for $10? or at least they used to... J Henry's may also be an option for a new share place.

In fairness to DQ, I had some pretty high end IPA's in there, so I wasn't surprised, I told my wife to go out to the car while he rang it up

    Hey guys,
This is Chris, owner of Beers Looking At You. Just wanted to thank you for mentioning us already since we are only pushing two weeks old. We are very much learning the ropes and are very open to ideas. We have also had a few people asking about bottle shares, too. As far as those interested in the bottle share, I've told them to just give the shop a call; come on in and ask for Chris and we can def work something out for you.

As for the $2 mix six debacle... As i said, we're just opening the doors, figuring out our set up, and solidifying daily operations. All our beer on the 'bottle shop' side is comparably priced to the local Specs or grocery store. The difference I hope to provide is that you can make a mix six pack from anything on the shelves. So if a 6 pack of your favorite craft beer is 8 dollars down the street, it's 8 dollars here, too! I think there was some confusion there.

If you want to bring home a variety of beers, we want you to be able/feel free to mix-and-match any six from our stocked inventory. We are only asking two dollars to the total cost of the six-pack versus the dollar (or more) per bottle that is usually added at a standard grocery chain. So, depending on what you choose, a mixed pack is averaging $9-$10.

thanks for chiming in, sorry for the misinformation, had heard about the $2 thing on FB and that usually
isn't a good place for secondary info.

i'll be stopping in over the weekend. Also love that you guys use the Digital Pour app. very cool!

Boo people that ruined it for everyone at Nobi.

I know the regulars that started this.... who were more regular than me as I live about thirty minutes away.. always supported the place outside of just the bottle shares. At the bottle shares they always ordered beer on tap, ate food and treated the staff with all the classiness that some could muster...

    Cheers to the good times.

Some of the originals need a secret meeting place, with a handshake and code words and of course beer...

Has anyone thought about approaching Nobi and asking them to allow a bottle share for $100 nonrefundable deposit that would give them a $100 credit for food?

From what I understand, the issue isn't over money. I heard some people got a little too out of hand and the owner doesn't want it to happen again.
