before I begin, I'll say that this is my fault for not using the feedback system. I've never had an issue with IP trades with locals and never felt it necessary, but here we go.

@ThomasMendes1 posted a trade offer with De Garde looking for things including a crowler of Sometimes a Great Cow IIPA. the communication on his end was spotty and at the end it seems like he was just stringing me along while holding out for a better offer, which he eventually ends up doing right after we agree on a time and place to meet up this afternoon.

this is just a warning that this guy will waste your time and I blame myself for reading the other thread about him and hoping he wouldn't pull shit like this in person. here's the screenshots of our entire exchange:

While I would have had exactly the same reaction to someone pulling this shit, if auctions are allowed, auctions are allowed. Unfortunately, we can't have it both ways.

Make no mistake - this is a huge dick move. But technically it's now "legal".

No disrespect, but auctioning off beers and verbally committing to a trade are not the same thing.

I don't like the guy because he actually typed "okeydoke".

    I could not agree more.

There is a HUGE difference between being an auctioneer, holding out for the very best offer, et cetera and verbally committing to a trade, trying to get it done for over a week, and then backing out completely two hours before the meet time that you had agreed to just forty minutes earlier.

What a surprise that @ThomasMendes1 back in the bad trader forum. Being shady and having no integrity when dealing with others is not OK. Looks like he didn't learn a thing from his first bad trader post. Traders beware.

fortunately another local saw this thread and offered to make the same trade, so everything will work out on my end. I'll also be using the feedback system this time.

    "Don't worry!" he says.

    What a jackoff.

He's lucky he didn't get banned the last time and should, at the very least, be permanently restricted from trading (imho).

And I don't think this is the same as auctioning. An auction would be if he had told OP that he was down to trade but was still entertaining offers until they actually exchanged bottles, in which case, OP likely would've told him to kick rocks a week and a half earlier.

We didn't officially lock in a trade. I was wrong and I apologized. Sorry I upset you dude.

What part of telling him you still want to do the trade and arranging a time/place to meet isn't locking in a trade?

Deja Vu? This is how @ThomasMendes1 justifies his shady trading tactics of backing out of trades

    To ClippersSD
"All of your beers are very tradeable so there is no issue there"

    To Box_Social
"And don't worry you can get rid of that great cow easy"

You really need to just go away and get off of this site. It is clear as day in those beer mails and texts. You should have been banned when you left retaliatory feedback in last bad trader thread. Now backing out of a trade while you are both on your way to do the exchange? Do you have any ethics or morals at all?

Mods, I understand the buyer beware aspect of trading, but this guy needs to be banned. This isn't the Wild Wild West , this is a community. This guy doesn't deserve to be part of this community.

I totally agree..He should at the very least be banned from the trading section... @Todd @F2brewers you guys stretched your own rules with this guy by not banning him for retaliatory feedback and left him to trade...He should have had a sterling record from then on..Then does this...Its a slap in the face to our community and he should be gone..JMO

Oh, I completely agree. But by opening up the trading wing to auctions, this is going to happen.

And there is a vocal minority that is of the opinion that no action should ever take place if the trading system isn't used; funny to see that flipped on its head here.

To be clear: this guy is a complete louse, but in a technical sense, by not using the trading system & auctioning off his beer, he broke no rules. Doesn't mean he's not on my personal DNT list, but those the facts, my friends.
