The start of the week means a new beer being tried in the office..this week it's this

tasted like a lighter version of Chocolate Rain..one of my favorite bruery stouts!

 

Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale.

 

At 3.8% and nice flavour, a great one to start with...

Good morning BAs! There is an odd bright light in the eastern sky - did North Korea just nuke Harrisburg? One can only hope! If this looks like a trend I'll have to head back to MI for the weekend - about a 5-6 hour drive depending on where I'm heading. Today's new breakfast beer is:



Fairly fresh (4/16/16) shelf beer. Not bad and not great. Nice label art.

 

Last night, I had a Petit Amarillo from De Garde.

 

It's just but drink up America and good night Australia

 

There's no time to complain about Monday today with a pile of mulch waiting and a to do list that stretches across Lake Michigan. A sunny, slightly warmer and breezy day coupled with a beer I enjoy makes for all the motivation I need. The Trillium in the background are just about finished. A small reminder to enjoy things while they're around. Have yourself a great week!

Big storms passed through last night; drizzly and cool this morning. Perhaps another lazy day around the house. Just dropped Mrs. Zombies off at airport. She is headed to NC for the week. I'm back at home base on dog sitting duty, and cracking open some coffee:



When the weather breaks, I'll take the dogs for a long walk along the lake. Cheers and have a great Monday!

New Belgium Fat Tire Amber Ale



Appearance is deep Topaz Amber, white cap with good lacing. The aroma is of caramel malt, toffee, some hop spice.

Taste has a rich malt entry, caramel, toffee, much like the nose. Just a dusting of hops. Finish is clean, crisp, and no bitterness, just rich malt. Texture is toothsome, as if you could chew it. It's really not that heavy but conveys that sensation.

A crowd pleaser of the amber sort. Family and friends admire it much. On paper this beer has some of the stuff I like most and the execution brings those elements together rather well. Wouldn't change a thing.

 

Caught a ride with a friend back down to school last night. Today is all about cleaning up my room and trying to get ready to move. While I've gotten rid of quite a lot already, there is a lot to go. Beer of course helps lubricate the process.
