That 15 was really good. Pro tip from a friend, mix it with a splash of the Koffee Kream.

Got a chance to try Callipygian for myself on Saturday, got a pour of it at the taproom. Wow, this is a great beer. Smooth and creamy, boozy tons of flavor. Coffee is pretty prominent, with the solid chocolate and vanilla tones. I think UJ may be a bit better, but this is an interesting take on it for sure. Absolutely worth a purchase.

Oops forgot to mention I tried Mounds Medionoche and it was really good. Very thick and rich body, great flavor. And the 15% alcohol was very well hidden- surprising, really. I didn't let it warm up completely before my glass was empty.

I think next year (this year?) when they release Medionoche it's going to be kind of a big deal.

Given the lines for the past 2 crowler releases, and the kind of beer its been trading for, I'd say its already a big deal! But you're right that their future releases (bottles rather than crowlers) will likely further up the crowds. As excited as I am for the beers and the new format, I kinda like it when release formats (1) encourage immediate consumption and (2) discourage trading.

Had it last night and thought it was great. Strong barrel presence that meshed really well with the Old Chub....one thing was the Gubna really was not there, so it was more like a barrel aged scotch ale than a hybrid (at least to me).

Tried Callipygian last night; seemed like a marriage between Tweak and Uncle Jacobs to me, though would have never guessed it was aged in a bourbon barrel. As someone who dislikes vanilla in my beer 99% of the time, this one falls into that 1%.

Anybody planning to grab some Xolotl at tomorrow's release? I've enjoyed Callipygian a ton, and I'm hoping that Xolotl is on the same level.

Did not enjoy, very harsh and I enjoy my big BA beers. It was a lot lighter in appearance compared to regular old chub.

Well, it's not BA old chub. It's old chub mixed with gub'na right?

Tried the Russian Pirate from Odell Saturday at the Fort Love Brewer's Jamboree... I recalled having it a while back and thinking it was a fairly nice, sweet, big-bodied BA stout that was rather hot.

It almost seems like an entirely different beer now- the boozy heat has really dropped off and the flavors have sort of balanced, taking this beer from pretty good to excellent. Was talking to one of their brewers and he mentioned it had been brewed last September, which may explain the improvement. He also mentioned they will be bottling in 12oz format, sold singly, and should be ready in the fall. My guess is this will be a great thing to open Christmas 2017!

12oz singles from Odell. Hmm I wonder what the price will be. I am definitely interested. Is it the Sep 2015 batch that will be bottled?

It will be a new batch- retailing at $6 or $7 per bottle.

I really like O'dell. Would definitely pic some of this up, if available around here.

    Cheers!

not a stout but Broken Compass has an Imperial Brown aged in Breckenridge bourbon barrels that was pretty high quality.

Broken Compass and Baker's aren't playing around. Kind of sad that Backcountry isn't what it was - that area had a hell of a group for a while.

I haven't even had one yet, but I think we need to mention Weldwerks Medianoche in this thread, so that anyone that does a search and winds up here, knows about it.

Because from the sounds/looks of it, it is the hottest stuff in Colorado right now
