My girlfriend is allergic to shedding dogs. Not sure about kids :astonished:

We all have our aversions. For instance, one of mine is belt buckles. Fortunately there are quite a few drinking establishments I can attend with a low likelihood of seeing one so I don't feel like banning them is necessary to my enjoyment.

    This isn't true.

We just got off the phone with them. There are several regulations you need to abide by in order for this to work. Such as a sanitation station, waste station, separate area JUST for dogs, separate entrance, no table service, employees can't pet dogs, need to be registered with "Dining with dogs", several signs posted, etc.

Banning kids or dogs from a brewery goes against the "community feel" that my favorite craft breweries have.

All of the argumentative BS in this thread aside, this is a bummer to me. I love dogs and I've never been bothered by one at a brewery. I always respectfully ask if I can pet them and I am happy when they're there hanging out, and every dog I've ever encountered has been cool. Same goes for their owners, but I understand my sample size is not equal to others' and there are some idiot owners out there who let their pets do whatever.

Anyway. I don't know where I am going with this. Let's go back to arguing about IPAs and shit.

I just cut-and-pasted from their own FB page, so how isn't this true?

When I'm in a brewery and a dog shits or pees on the floor, I usually just laugh and tell my 2 year old not to touch it.

Nicely done. Melding both complaints, kids and dogs, in one comment. To quote the philosopher, "That right there is some funny shit, I don't care who you are"

Unfortunately my history with regard to dog shit is that I tend to be the one who doesn't see it and therefore, steps in it.

I've done it at fucking weddings.

(But I've never stepped in dog shit in a brewery, nor thinking back on it, have I ever actually seen any. Did this happen frequently, back when dogs were allowed inside?)

Who knows? It was so long ago; even IPAs of that era aren't fresh anymore :sunglasses:

Dogs going potty in the brewery never happens. I've never seen it even once. Now, babies on the other hand...

I have never seen shit at a brewery; from kids, nor dogs. This thread is ridiculous. I was also told via a local brewery they can have dogs tied up outside of their outdoor area, but they cannot come into the outdoor patio/area, or inside the brewery. This has been a long time unenforced area via the health department.

Man.. this thread makes me kinda regret being a part of this online community. Loosen up it's only beer right? Try and enjoy life once in a while? I really enjoy having dogs at brewery and I'm not a dog owner. Don't mind kids either FWIW, and I certainly am too young for that... that I know of. This is a bummer.

That all said I understand the health concern, but I'm surprised they didn't look the other way unless the city had gotten some complaints. If you're worried about life happening why don't you just chill at home and seethe hate into your beer by yourself.

I totally get that. But it doesn't really matter how anybody feels. I bring my German Shepherd with me everywhere I go. Including breweries. I'm certainly not going to be a jerk to breweries or complain that I can't do it anymore. Oh well. He'll either stay home or I'll do something else. It's not that big of a deal. The city is definitely not looking the other way right now. They are treating it as a critical health violation.

Or we could go to a brewery and not see dogs while you could stay at home and invite over a bunch of people and tell them to bring their dogs over.

Leave your pets at home people.

This is very respectful and rare as a dog owner I appreciate this. A reason I don't take mine out are my female doesn't particularly like strangers touching her. Guess what's at a brewery? tons of strangers. Plus I know not everyone wants them around and we're all here to have a good time, not just me and my dog. I've never had a problem at any Denver breweries with dogs or their owners. For those that think Denver is pro-dog, try Austin. You would think Jester King is a dog park when the weather is nice.

Per the law, cats aren't even mentioned. Mark it down - 2016 is going to be the beginning of cats in breweries. It's going to be glorious.
