Nope, not home brew. It's Boundary Bay Cedar Dust IPA. It's not packaged by the brewery, draft only, but I had been keeping the brewers updated on the BIF, I shared one of the Heady cans with one of them, they ere bottling some samples for accounts, and, well now you have it.

BTW, the Wander Wild Warehouse just won a Silver at WBC, and, IIRC, it took Gold at GABF last year. IMHO, Field 41 is the best IPA brewed in WA, even though the brewery calls it a Pale. Insanely crushable. The Melvins are the latest hype-bombs to be released in WA, even though we've been getting draft in my town for a couple years (the brewer is from the area, and comes back to snowboarding on Mt. Baker). The Mammoth Jack is from Skookum, one of my favorite regional breweries. Everything else is pretty self-explanatory.

Nice! I read up on a few of them last night and have them chilled and ready to go for this evening. My wife will be on the night shift, so I'll be able to check a few off!

Let me know what ya think of the Cedar Dust, it's a personal favorite. Imho, Wander is making the best, and most interesting, beers of the 11 breweries in my county.

Puzzled, myself. I can work out what the I and F stand for, but the L is a mystery to me.

I'm not sure what LIF actually stands for but I won the last round and received a box of beer from the poster of that round. I'll award a box of beer to the winner, who ever is closest to the date when I reach my 20,000th like here on BA. The only thing that is asked is the winner of the box continues the LIF by running the next round. The challenge can be anything of your choice.

They've won the Alpha King award at GABF a couple times now, and a few medals. Folks go nuts for the stuff, but their beers generally don't push my personal buttons. One of their beers, *, I love, but the rest I can take or leave. I seem to be an outlier though.

    A) didn't realize Melvin was distributing to our fair state already. Awesome! Haven't had any, but heard nothing but great things about their beer and the people.
    B) That Cedar Dust is real good. Cedar anything always has a bit of a special place in my heart as it is a tree that was a significant part of my childhood in a couple of different ways, but even above and beyond that the BBB-folks did a real good job with that one (unsurprisingly). I've had it a couple of times, most recently when I was stumbling home after the Fremont Heron Hunting Club soiree and all of a sudden found myself inside with a tray full of barbecue in front of me and that glass next to my hand. Good shit.

Yeah, cans hit a couple months ago. Like I mentioned, we've been getting draft in Bham for a couple years, and, IIRC, they signed with a distributor about a year ago, and have been a fairly steady presence since.

Asterisk was indeed phenomenal. Best I've had. Preference after is: Melvin IPA, 2x4, Hubert, but I find them all good. Aside from Asterisk though, very similar to La Cumbre stuff so hard to go out of the way pursuing them.

Nope, Washington participants not eligible. That LIF is gonna be tough as the number of states gets reduced. LIFs seem fun, how does one get started?

Some of the guys in the Locals Hints and Hauls thread had participated in this LIF and it may have actually been started by someone from that thread. That's where I first saw something about this one. Some of the LIF's are run for charity donations for certain causes. I've seen some run for new local breweries with there beer as the prize. The way you give the beer away can be what ever you want. I know in the Newbies BIF there is an on going CIF(Cushion it Forward) where there were 4 red chair cushions used to pad the first box. Now each person that receives the box with the cushions signs his or her name to the cushions and runs the next round and send the cushions and some beer on to the next person.

Hey, they stole our half baked idea, and baked it all the way! Shouldn't we get a commission or finder's fee or something?

Hey everyone, been busy with life and other beer commitments and such and lost track of this thread pages ago. I try to keep up since this is where I first got my introduction to the BIF world but you guys are posting animals.

LIF stands for Lottery it Forward, different from a full Beer it Forward round as it's typically a smaller and or quicker way to determine a winner (or winners) of a box of beer without having to worry about return fire. LIF's are usually contained within larger BIF's such as this one as a way to keep the action going during a current round and even while waiting for the start of the next round, the best box competition in this thread as run by @smanson56 was a LIF, but there are exceptions like the 50 state LIF. As to how a LIF is started it's really just a matter of posting and asking participants to guess this, or answer this, etc. If it's within a BIF like this one then it would basically only be open to participants of the current round, or it can be opened up to lurkers if you would like, rules are basically up to whomever is offering up the LIF. If you have a good idea for a larger LIF like the 50 States and want to open it up to anyone on BA then a new LIF thread shoud be created.

Hope this helps, carry on NBS'ers!

Just wrote my review for the Cedar Dust up. Overall I found it really enjoyable. I took notes on the others I have opened and will review soon! I really thought the Field 41 was a nice brew...great for the summer months!
