I live in Iowa, but I'll be in Columbus next month. I was hoping it'd be on the shelves by then.

What 's the statute of limitations on crimes against arbitrary abv laws? I think we might be out of the woods.

Since I buy beer across the river, I'm happy to hear this news. 120 Minute and Bourbon County have eluded me for years, and West Virginia will never go above 12% lol

    14% Imperial Stout = 4.75 greatest thing evah. 14% Eisbock = 3.25 not a fan.

New to OH: Epic released a sour IPA called Tart N' Juicy. DH Smells Like a Safety Meeting & Kamakaze something or other. I didn't really see many new beers this week.

I was ecstatic when I heard this news yesterday!!! Oh happy day indeed for us craft beer aficionados in Ohio! This passed the Ohio House last week and passed in the Ohio Senate earlier today. And if I am not mistaken this becomes law with or without the governor's signature. It is nice to see the neo-con GOP controlled state legislature doing something right for a change that will help to benefit an industry that's been growing steadily in this state, as it has in pretty much the entire country and even the world for that matter, over the past 10 to 15 years. It's nice to know that the neo-con GOP controlled state legislature trusts that beer drinkers in this state are now responsible enough to make their own decisions about the beers the choose to consume, because until now they've always somehow trusted wine and spirits drinkers to be able to do this but not beer drinkers. The question is, which Ohio brewery will be the first to brew and release a beer that's over 12%. I have to believe there's already some breweries that in this state already have a beer or 2 in a tank somewhere that's over 12% that they've made just for fun and or their own personal enjoyment, just not for sale to customers, etc. I'm not sure how soon the law actually takes effect, but I wouldn't be surprised if that very shortly after it does we get news of a brewery in this state having a beer that's over 12% being served at their brewpub/tap room or being bottled, etc.

Not that it matters, but it passed the Senate last week and the House this week. Also, look a few posts up and you'll see Brad from Jackie O's mention they have beer in barrels that is already 15+% ABV. Who knows when they'll bottle whatever that is or who will brew something stronger before then, but it'll be interesting to see what OH brewers come up with. I don't think higher ABV necessarily means a better beer, so I'm sure we'll see a few beers that fall short after giving into the 12+% hype.

I'll try as many as I can from the breweries here in Ohio that make beers over 12% I say we get a bunch of ba'ers together on black Friday somewhere in Ohio to celebrate bcbs making it's way to Ohio finally at a place in Ohio with it on draft

My fedex Bill just got cut down significantly. Bourbon county, bomb and those one offs that wouldn't make it due to the 12% law plus our breweries pumping out some new fun stuff will negate the need to trade for me. It is like a tax break just passed!

Not my type of beer anyway, but how available will those beers be?

Trading and truck chasing are both things I don't consider fun.

BCBS will not be very available, but the delivery date is always Black Friday and there won't be much truck chasing.

BOMB! sat on the shelf at Party Source for weeks, just across the river.

I was just at Party Source on Friday and they had plenty of BOMB! still sitting there. Great beer, but people won't be flocking to pay the price for it given that it's really only "rare" in the sense that we don't get it here at the moment. And honestly (homer plug), I would much rather dole out the money for Oro Negro or Canis Mexicanis if I'm looking to drown myself in this style....which I always am!

Bomb is a nice beer, picked one up in Asheville when there was maybe 20 or so sitting on the shelf. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but I would buy it again if I saw it.

BCBS on the other hand, I may be stopping by a few stores near release to get a few bottles. Had my first just a few months ago (original) and was blown away. What an incredible stout. Now we can hope quality doesn't suffer moving forward.
