Stop making me laugh with your typos (intentional or not) and your good sense of humor. I came to this forum to gripe and be pissed off and you're ruining it for me...

But seriously, good beer karma to all of you! May your IPA's be fresh and your BA stouts be uninfected

Don't recall exactly, but it wasn't any huge savings.

Last week is over--has there been anything else said on this issue formally by Goose? Apologies if I've missed it.

Parsing this as an attorney (sorry), he may have spoken about what they're doing last week, but they may be sharing it at a later time.

In any case, nothing yet I'm aware of.

Not entirely related but 3 of us drank some of the '15 lineup the other night (except for regular BCBS, lol for irony):

    Barleywine: utter garbage, couldn't drink.
Coffee: same sour nose, sour and metallic, couldn't drink.
Prop: same bad nose, super sweet upon first hitting your mouth, and then sour and metallic. Couldn't drink. *worst*
Rare: smelled and tasted great. (thankfully)

    Regal: didn't get to
    Regular: didn't get to

The regulars I've had over the last 2 months have been good but have seem to have noticed a little more carb and less barrel and finish. ***Some of which could totally be mental***

They were selling at MSRP (I think) at the good beer shop, $8.99. The hy-vee I visited wanted $12.99. I bought a few from for $8.99 and drank one already, didn't seem bad to me. I missed out on having it fresh this year though, so I don't know what it tasted like at the beginning. FWIW, I though BA Bomb was better.

So you opened 4 beers among 3 people, dumped 3 of them, so you had 5oz of Rare each and couldn't get to the last 2?

Please tell me you had other brews involved, or you all need to turn in your BA "card."

Hah! Good catch...I'd be worried too.

In case others are concerned or just interested:
We had '12 BCBS (drinking incredibly & my fav vintage), '14 BCBS (still good), '13 Coffee (awesome and not "faded" or even close), Bramble Rye and some loons for cleansers.

I got sick of waiting for goose island to look into this. I sent them a well written email that basically said I have had Brewers a tenth of their size step up and do the right thing so I will continue buying from those breweries and stop wasting my money on goose island. Fuck em if they can't take a joke I guess. Good luck to everyone else holding out for goose to do "the right thing".

Again after reading this thread I got spooked. Popped open another one. November 4, 2015. Bought in Iowa. Just as good as ever. At this point I'm just going to sit on the ones I have left and pray the don't turn.

Big BA beers isn't quite like a sixer of an IPA, 6-7 beers can easily last a year without pushing it. This problem has nothing to do with aging per say, i have 2012 in my closet that are still perfect.

Most not all that didnt age these beers. Had little to no problems with these beers. These threads have grown as time progressed, so in short age. As i stated before and will again again anything is taking a risk.

I know they arent like IPAs these are Stouts different style of beer.

Part of the comment you replied to is me being a hater on aging and mellowing out a BA beer.
They werent aged in Booze barrels to be mellow and not have some type of bite or heat.

2012 is a great beer but by now very strong almost soy sauce like taste. Popped one open last year.

I said this before in another similar thread in the Great Lakes section. Same issue....BA stouts turning sour prematurely. There is a huge difference between aging beer and the expectation on how long it is reasonable to assume a barrel aged stout should last. Your argument may be valid once you get up into many years. But not a few months. For a beer that is only available on one day for the most part (at least in my region), I'm supposed to only chase after a few bottles so I only have them for a month or so? That's crazy. I personally like to enjoy this throughout the year to get me to the next release. When your previous vintages of the same beer taste better than the current vintage, something has obviously gone wrong with the beer. It has nothing to do with how it was stored or how long it was stored (assuming both were kept in similar conditions). I'm keeping my comments generic because I've yet to have a bad BCBS regular. But I know my '13 and '14 BCBW tasted better than my '15 within a couple months. If people are saying their '14 BCBS is better than their '15, then something is wrong with the beer, period.

A stout typically has a shelf life of 6 months. Goose Island released BCBS on Black Friday in 2015. It won't even reach the 6 month point until this weekend. That's not aging; that's shelf stability. Any beer that has gone bad to this point was not shelf stable to begin with. While BCBS sells out in a day in many places, it does not in others. It is treated no differently than any other stout that is or isn't aged in barrels. By definition, no one has aged 2015 BCBS at this point. That beer hasn't even reached its standard shelf life yet.

That doesn't even begin to touch on the point that Goose Island advertises the beer ages up to 5 years on the bottle itself. They are the ones promoting aging of the beer. At their anniversary party, they sold numerous vintages of regular BCBS and variants. They bottle the beer up to 2 months prior to even releasing it on Black Friday. They don't even release the beer at its "freshest" point.

Any issues with 2015 BCBS is the fault of the contents of the bottle, not the ownership.

what you are saying tho about vintages is subjected. Ofcourse some people are going ot say '14 taste better not everyone likes a "hot" beer. So they will prefer the one with age on it over the non aged beer.

But I also understand what you are saying about the one daya year release but if you drank them all fresh you may never had this problem. Right?

But what is "fresh"? Who has defined how long that is? Is it a week, a month, a year? Even Odd Side is adding a "drink fresh" to their label after screwing up most all of their recent BA releases. But honestly that doesn't help the consumer at all....it's just a CYA for the brewery to pass the blame back to the customer. I'm guessing for copyright reasons they can't have Enjoy By (insert BA stout name). I recently drank a 10 year old Ten Fidy....it was amazing. I guess I'm only supposed to spend my money with breweries that know how to make beer that stands the test of time. And to @PHBoiler's point, there are stores putting 2nd waves of BCBS on the shelf as we speak. How can they do this if it's truly a perishable product? Shouldn't it be dumped? I mean if a store pulls old bread and milk then they should do the same for beer. Or maybe it "should" be ok if there's no contaminant already in the bottle.
