Gentlemen, I will be setting sail to the great Midwest on June 15. I'll be traveling with my Dad as we venture to: June 15 Fat Head's (North Olmsted, OH) Brew Kettle June 16 Bell's Three Floyd's June 17 Chicago day (TBA) [I need your help with where to go, @NickyPogs and you IL guys] June 18 18th Street Jackie O's Any of you dudes up for some handshake ticking?
Is there a universal resource to find out about a beer's distribution - is this listed on BA? Or do you all research this beer-by-beer? I was excited to pick up some Lower de Boom today. I have only had it during San Francisco beer week, and it was incredible, though it was an aged variant so I'm less sure what to expect from this 4 pack. I have never seen barleywine packaged in 8.5 ounce cans for distro...and am still a little confused about how far they reach. Rate beer says 'regional distribution' but other sources say they make it to 17 states. Guess it's not as rare as I thought? Still, this is some cool artwork, passing up the treasure for beer, nice choice.
SeekABrew.com is a nice resource. It'll tell you which breweries are in which states and to what extent. It's not 100% accurate, but it's very reliable. It's a good source to find out which breweries your target can and can not find at his/her local store.
Morning guys, been MIA past few days, not much cell service up north here. Been a great trip so far, I think a LIF will be in order when I get home, got way too much beer! Off to Maine, Allahash & Foundation today. Trillium & night shift tomorrow!
Unfortunate - you'll be missing the grand opening of Bissell Brothers' new spot in Portland by just 1 week! Keep an eye out for their beers on draft around town! Keep an eye on the Trillium twitter... cryptic tweet a couple days ago (Q: "Do you think [Upper Case bottles] will last until Friday?" A: "I do! Plus some other treats...") is having some speculate that there might be a special drop today for the holiday weekend. Or they could just be referring to the 10-12 other "regular" beers currently available at one or both of their locations. Guess we'll find out soon enough!
When you're in Chicago on the 17th, some places I would recommend: Rev's tap room on Kedzie (the brew pub is okay, but I prefer their tap room) Goose Island Fulton, I actually like having a beer here better than Clybourn but the hours are a little weird Haymarket Half Acre has a cool tap room, but it's pretty far on the North side Piece - beer is decent but the pizza is really good Lagunitas - Just because it's massive and a cool place to check out Cool beer bars/places - Local Option The Map Room Girl and the Goat Unfortunately I am gonna be in MD that week for work. Hope you have a good trip though.
I know you were helping @Doogflaggat, but thanks! I'll be heading to Chicago for work in Nov and will keep this in mind.
Big thanks to @Homebrew !! Nice box landed yesterday, with some exciting brews/wants... NightShift Morph (5/16) ipa, Castle Vern wheat ipa, 2x TreeHouse Bright ipa -- ALL EXTRAS! sweeeeet/tasty ipas for the long memorial day wknd! 2x NEBCO Imperial Stout Trooper -- needing these for a vert; and i'm a star wars fanboy (cmon now) Kent Falls Dekkera -- a recent MA trip turned me onto Kent, and am excited to try more of their stuff Kent Falls/Grimm Lightning Fields -- again, excited about Kent, and i pretty nice collab they got around to with Grimm! Thank you, again! A great box!
Pshh, everyone knows that's the best place to drink in the burbs. Just hurts a little when you wake up the next day. In more ways than one.
When will you be here in November? You should time it for when FOBAB takes place. Best beer event in Chicago. Shoot me a BM if you need any more info. I'll definitely be around in November.
hey @Bristopher89 ..i'm in NoVA; one of the lucky bastards who gets to see the VA, DC, and MD stuff! ...i try to make it to Richmond for some beer (read: Mekong/Answer) when i can, but that I-95 traffic is a doozy (..and this a comparison having had to deal with the I-5 and 101 in cali for many years, even). Stoked that The Veil is open now... haven't been yet, but i'm plannin on it in the next few wknds (can releases are tuesdays which makes it tough to snag; so have to resort to trading); i dig Strangeways' experimenting, LCCB's farming, and Triple Crossing's ipas; also excited to finally pop into Stone's spot, too. i'm pretty excited for the RVA and NoVA beer scenes -- though don't want it to get TOO popular, or else it'll just be (more) mayhem -- the trading/'expected value' people are asking for is entertaining, really ...meanwhile, i'll try my best to sling around some good VA stuff ..by BIF or by LIF! cheers & enjoy the wknd, amigos!
having just been to Lighthouse and State Line, "jealous" doesn't do justice to my feelings about your distro Even in Philly, I found Hardywood sitting on the shelf of a Wegmans
That Vern is delicious!! I brought some back with me last weekend. Cool place to go to as they look like they have a lot of potential to make some great brews.
Been a busy couple days, got this on Tuesday from @beatjunkee awesome little trade for some adroit theory, the rest was extras!!
Not going to be able to work that out. Have a wedding that Saturday I am going to try my best to make FOBAB this year... If we can get a babysitter for the weekend, I'd like to kind of surprise my wife with a quick trip over so she can hang out with her friends while I kill brain cells with my FIBs
