Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! I am going to get a nice bike ride in before the supposed rain comes in the afternoon/evening. They have been wrong all damn week with the weather.

Outstanding DIPA. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, melon, berry, lemon/orange peel, and pine; with moderate honey, caramel, toasted bread malts. Medium pine/rind bitterness; with a sticky/resinous and fairly creamy medium-full body mouthfeel. Moderate dryness and super smooth. I love Mosaic hops!

2 year old vintage. Incredible as usual. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, fudge, toasted dark bread, smoke, and char; with some herbal/piney hops and light licorice/dark fruit. Bittersweet roast/char finish; light increasing bitter dryness; full body creamy feel with some sticky/chalky roast and hop notes. Very smooth, lightly warming ABV. Definitely one of my favorite RIS, very true to style all the way through. I prefer it with a year or two under it's belt however. It eventually turns into dense dark chocolate cake flavor for me after 4-ish years. Bitterness is still pretty strong right now.

Just absolutely mind blowing. One of the best beers ever ever had, and still tastes like it. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toffee, molasses, whiskey, toasted oak, dark bread, chili pepper, and light dark fruits. Light-medium roast bitterness and oak spice; bittersweet creamy/silky full body; with light roast chalkiness and spice stickiness. Minimal dryness and very smooth sipping. Interesting note now vs my review 4 months ago, the chilies seem to be more noticeable than I remember. Balance between the the barrel, malt, and coffee/spice notes is still as perfect as I remember it. Glad I have 1 more left.

    Cheers

It's gonna be a blonde Saturday in the Sunny South . . .

Southern Prohibition Suzy B Dirty Blonde Ale

Appearance: Hazy (intentionally so) light yellow, white cap, some lacing.

Aroma: Mostly citrus hops with just a hint of malt.

Taste: Pretty good for what's there. I'm puzzled why brewers design an easy drinking malt rich beer then cover everything up with a dense hop layer.

Texture: Medium, certainly, not full though.

Overall: The brewer says this unfiltered full flavored ale has a honey malt background with balanced hop bitterness. I suggest more malt and less hops, or different hops. If, as they say, this was intended as an easy drinker the hops should be cut by about 30%. As for malt this is one of those dishes where you can't tell if the meat is chicken or pork.

What an amazing Pale Ale. Reminded me a lot of PseudoSue, meaning that I can now buy this instead of harassing my father-in-law to bring me PseudoSue from Iowa every time he visits us. As a former Chicagoan, I'm really pleased to see such a great beer made there.

This particular one was canned on April 21, the day Prince died, and as a tribute this was printed at the bottom of the can:

The concert started after midnight because of the worldwide broadcast, but it apparently wasn't even shown in the US that day because of the Super Bowl happening that day.

    Good Morning BA's....

Gonna be a yin and yang day---oldest daughter leaves in a couple hours for grad school in Rhode Island (after being home for two years... post-undergrad degree). Been a gift of two fantastic years back in the day-to-day flow of life--making the departure all the more bittersweet. Going to be a brutal day/weekend...emotions across the spectrum. I will contain my "flow" on this site---but also know the fatherly element and vibe that permeates the thread at times will know and understand...with perspective valued, as always

Enough...going to need this heavy hitter to assist in the navigation of pre/post departure
    [IMG]

and some soundtrack for appreciation of the spectrum today...

Will be back on site...cathartic and therapeutic as BA-land is...in and amongst the events and emotions of the day.

    Cheers to all!!!
