    Last night's closer ...

And now? The opener. Thing 2 had his last track meet today and with the last meet of the year, it's a "fun" meet and the parent's get to participate. (You can see where this one's going already ... ...) He's been on my case about running because he wants to "kick my butt" since track was my sport in H.S. and he runs the same events I did. O.K. - I'm up for the challenge, let's do this, Jr.! Enter the 400m. I haven't raced competitively in years and felt like a fish outta water, there was a time when I was layin' down a 54 second lap and today had to drop out half way through the race because of my lower back. He kicked my butt. :slight_frown: I'm petitioning the American Track & Field Association and demand they add beer drinking to the field events. So for now, I'm sticking with what I do best. :sunglasses: ...

    Game on.!.! :grinning:

(I unfortunately don't have any Toby Keith on vinyl.)

    Prost!

I got out after my morning beverages and had a nice ride. Beer is fuel . The bike I rode today was my old Specialized, my expensive Salsa is in the shop for a while right now. They are sending my fork back to Fox to get rebuilt. First time I rode this in 2 years. It was my main indoor trainer since then, and it turns out all the time I spent on it did wear the drivetrain quite significantly. I stopped in to a bike shop mid ride, and I got a new chain and cassette installed on the spot. The shop tech showed me the difference between the new chain, and it was 4-5 links longer from chain stretch. Significant enough to be out of compliance with my cassette, causing clicking noises on my way there. I am glad it was only 9 miles down the trail, I was afraid something was going to fail the whole time :grimacing:. I pushed it out full effort the whole rest of the way and got some PR times which was sweet. Still feeling the ride high.

    Refueling a bit:

Fantastic as usual, got a fresh six pack. No Rajah or Head Hunter to be found. Grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange peel, pine; with honey, light caramel, toasted bread malts. Good sized pine/rind bitterness; sticky/resinous and lightly creamy mouthfeel. Crisp, dry, and quite refreshing right now after that ride.

Fantastic as usual. Big flavors of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, molasses, toasted bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, clove, ginger, anise, vanilla, and oak; with lighter notes of bourbon, toffee, and coffee. Some light-moderate roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spice on the finish. Nearly full bodied with balanced creaminess and sticky/chalky spice and roast character in the mouthfeel. This is one of my favorite variants so far along with the raspberry. It is starting to mellow a bit to reveal more barrel character, but initially the spices did mask most of it.

    Cheers

My current beer was poured from a container that looked just like this.

Got an entire room full of vinyl (well over 1000 LP's) and a busted record player.
CD collection to the rescue. Somehow this song got into my head this morning.

The Yetti cup will keep this beer cold even though the temp outside is almost 90 degrees.

Sorry to quote my own post, but I've noticed this trend with many CA beers. They try to recreate or reinterpret Pliny. This is good, but in no way does it capture the true flavors you can get from Mosaic. Just my thoughts.

Ha! My favorite song when I was of a grade school age. Memories...

Anyhow, no vinyl for this post. Had to get back to that SRV/Albert King video. Also have the Sox on in the background. They've scored 6 since I turned it on, and I have seen none of them being interested in these posts and other musical endeavors. But I figured I'd have a baseball themed beer:

Side note, speaking baseball and having an O's themed beer, have I just been missing @PuppyClawz posts recently, or has she not been participating as much?

Edit: just after posting, YouTube (I assume) jammed a random commercial inside the full version of the video I was watching. Interesting to my business mentality, annoying to my "hey, I was enjoying that" mentality.

I miss @PuppyClawz ! I'm too sporadic of a BA-er to confirm that she's been around less, but it certainly feels that way :slight_frown:
