Thinking of going to the brewery later. Anyone know of the two releases from yesterday are still on?

These new cans are the tits! Had a one of each last night and I gotta say I'm kinda sad I didn't spring for the 3rd 4 pack of Spock it. Really juicy with a nice soft mouthfeel. I think they are really dialing it in cause I enjoyed it more so than some of those Massachusetts beers I've had. The Sticky Green and Bad Traffic was also really tasty. Got lots of dank melon notes. So good. Glad to hear cans were leftover though. Hope the batches get bigger.

Opened Spock It(x2) and SG&BT(x2) amongst 6 of us yesterday at a taste gathering. We all said the same...SG&BT was tropical juice & fruity. The better of the 2 newest releases. But Spock It was spot on too. I'd sit on Spock It and let it open up more in the next couple of weeks. It should taste better with a bit of can aging. Now the night before I opened a can of 1L1L and SDF (thanks to @beercho). I missed out on that can release. 1L1L and SDF were 2 weeks old. SDF is my favorite Monkish can releases so far. With SG&BT a close 2nd. @Teh_Jerk did you have on draft or cans? I think it taste different out of the can than on draft. Better IMO. Plus if you sit on the cans for a week or two it'll open up more.
It was nice to open up a clear fresh carbonated west coast ipa after the hazy daze monkish east coast style. West style is still the best. But Monkish is putting it out there for those who like it and want it. And why not? Double the customers. Your just going to have to camp out there to get any cans.

Spock it is definitely drinking better out of can than tap, but i figure that's just an extra day of settling down (popped a can yesterday).

SDF on tap on Saturday was drinking REALLY well. Much better than the can that night. These beers just need some time to settle with all that protein and yeast. The canning shock is probably far more evident in these type of beers than your typical west coast style

I didn't like SDF at all out of the can when I had it a week after release. I wonder if I would like it more now.

I've read some dumb shit on here and this is up there. Blaming Monkish for people's bad behavior? So they should hire line security now?

I would post a longer rebuttal but sometime tells me it will be a waste of my time. Time to add to the ignore list.

Ultimately the blame is on the selfish dbags at these releases. But, yes, the breweries can do things to eliminate bad behavior. If their license is at risk you think they would taker steps to eliminate the entitled beer a-holes who could ruin their living. Also, the a-holes turn off the customers who just want to buy beer, not deal with line-cutters, illegal drinking, mules, task rabbits and all the other crappy elements who have taken over hyped releases. This shit is happening all over the country.

Now I aint saying Monkish is responsible for line cutters, and I aint sayin they aint... but lets not pretend holding Monkish responsible would be some madman stance or unprecedented position. People have been roasting Russian River for years about their hands off approach to the line, specifically how they work really hard to stop public drinking but do nothing to curtail the rampant cutting that makes their events a total drag.

In other Monkish news, i'm in the process of moving and discovered that I accidentally cellared a "hem and haw" for the last two years. Gonna get to opening it this week. Hope it held up.

I hesitate to comment on this thread because I am from New York, but the same exact thing happens at Other Half in New York. People lined up at 5am in the morning for can releases pounding beers in the streets of New York City. It is like a giant illegal block party. For some reason beer geeks think it is OK to pound beer while waiting on line at beer releases.

Where the first line cut off at the driveway these guys broke out into a full on complete drunkfest of a bottle share, literally along the grass divide and the sidewalk. They completely lucked out they didn't start till about fifteen minutes after the cops came by. Cops were chilling for a good 5 minutes talking to our end of the line about what we were waiting in line for.

Personally I don't care if they are sharing beer. If the cops give them a ticket for an open container i'll just laugh. If monkish is okay with it and they get their ABC license revoked, it's on them as well. It really doesn't impact me at all. I thought Monkish did a pretty good job with the lines. Maybe hand out wristbands a little earlier.. around 9:30/10, but otherwise the line cutting wasn't severe and everyone was pretty chill. They also took to note about people getting back in line with wristbands, they cut off your wristband once you purchased.

They are taking extra steps each release, I applaud them for that.

This is an old song here. Since it's third can release. We know monkish is reading this. So if they haven't figured it out by now then they don't give a sh!te. I don't care if some are partying in the am in line. I do not and choose not to. Line cutting is a different story. Again...Monkish reading this should start handing out wristband earlier than 10am (last Sat). I heard it was 11am on the SDF and 1L1L release. So they did improve a little. Maybe it'll be 9am on the next release. Not my business. So I don't give a sh!te if they lose their license. I still got Smog, ESBC, Noble, BL and BW. Buying these M cans just costing me more $$'s out of my wallet.

Agree. There were definitely a couple folks that 'joined' their groups late and all they did was go to where they were handing out the weistbands and probably gave some bogus excuse that they had to get something from their car... but nothing you can do. There will always be those people.

I actually saw that happen a few times and the woman that was handing out the wristbands said "sorry we already passed your friends, go back to your spot and we'll come for you and everyone around you can verify".

the solution to that is very simple - don't make exceptions. If you're not there for the wrist band, you go to the back of the line. It's also on folks to call out and monitor the line cutting themselves.

Eh, I don't want to play line police. I come to have a chill time and drink beer not get in an awkward confrontation with a guy who thinks it's cool to get drunk in a parking lot at 9am. I just avoid line up releases because I don't particularly want to make the choice between watching assholes be assholes or dispensing mob justice
