I have three times, Night Shift Mainer Weiss, Trillium Free Rise and an infected BCBCS. If I start drinking something and I hate it, I'm not going to keep drinking it.

The odd infected beer, old IPA, beer that just sucks, beer that I forgot about that got old and stale. I voted 1 in 25 on average, very rare is it because it's a fresh beer I don't like, rather there's usually something quite wrong with it (off flavours).

It's very rare that I drain pour. Bud Clamato was the most recent, and I only tried it to see if my taste changed since I had the light version 10 years ago - it didn't. I did pour some closeouts from Leach Lake Brewing that were badly infected, and horrible. Sorry, a red isn't supposed to taste like vinegar, and I like vinegar.

I can't remember a single drain pour in close to 5000 reviews... many beers I would not have again and a couple that might have been drain pours were split with someone else (Original C Cave Creek Chili Beer, I'm thinking of you).

If I don't know a beer, I tend to buy singles (since I usually can) and don't generally have the issue of what to do with the other 3 or 5.

I'm thinking half a dozen out of the 700+ beers I've tried were so bad I dumped and two that were obviously infected.
Don't care what they cost, if it makes me wanna gag, down the drain it goes.

Every time I see a new thread about drain-pouring, I immediately dump whatever beer I'm drinking reflexively. So....about three times a day

that's a smart plan, you don't want to force yourself to drink those as they will make you feel horrid through the night/morning

Been lucky and never got a super stale IPA (though I am a bit persnickety about checking dates and/or knowing the fresh shipments to my local stores). I've only ever gotten one infected beer in all my years and it was not what the brewer intended but still interesting and not bad so I drank it (Triple C The Dude Imbibes).

I have only done it once in recent memory. It was a Tripel that My Sister bought while she was touring Europe and brought back. Unfortunately, she was not very diligent when it came to storage and I had to dump it.

Other then that, I am pretty good about not wasting money n complete swill.

I don't mind a drain pour once in a while. I'm not forcing myself to down a beer I don't enjoy. I like to explore new beers and styles and some are just not palatable to me. A recent example is DFH 120. I'd never had it and was at my shop the day it was delivered. I got through half the glass of that booze fest.

If pouring out a $3 beer is a large dilemma I don't know what to tell you.

I rarely drain pour but the ones I have were way past prime IPAs that had gone way malty and sickly sweet.

I've only drainpoured 4 beers. One had a medicinal cough syrup off flavor, one had issues which I still don't know what the cause was, one tasted like the burnt scapings from an oven, and the last was a Westvleteren 12 which had come open in a mail shipment.

I also rarely drain pour. I think my only one in the last two or so years was Twisted Pine's Ghost Face Killah.

Nah. There's no better way to learn about new beers, styles, etc. than to open them up and imbibe. Frequently trying new beers, usually means coming across a few that don't align with my palate.

If I like, I'll finish it. If I don't, down the drain it goes. Why on earth would I finish drinking something I don't enjoy?
