I had some Veritas 010 at Night of the Funk and it was the beer of the night for me. Can anybody give insight as to what bottles of this have gone for recently?
I was at the release last winter. For $75, you received a multi-course dinner pairing with Lost Abbey beers, a free V10 and the right to buy another V10 for something like $25-30. Not surprising, the on-line tickets vanished very quickly.
I have tried it twice now-- once back in January, and again last weekend... The peaches have faded in a big way. Right now I'd say I think it was better fresh. With that said, it has lost a little value in my mind (because I actually think "taste" counts! Blasphemy, right?!). I'm glad I didn't get any offers on my recent ISOs... It currently isn't worth what it's going for in my view. But, it will certainly be a "whale" in a couple years when some supertraders want to set up a Lost Abbey tasting.
Completely agree. Thought it was nectar on release night. Eight months later, just a hint of peaches left
I traded a HF Damon and an Upright Fantasia for a bottle of the V010. Opened it back in early July and thought it was tasting awesome - stilly was very peachy at that point.
My Bruery Trustee hooked me up on the V10. I think I sent him: BA BORIS, Black Ops, Hunahpu, and something else shelf. I went way over $4$ on my end, but I was okay with that since it was an expensive beer and part of a larger trade
250 bottles released about 150 kept by Lost Abbey for future parties, events, etc. I traded one for Veritas 003, one for Twisted Spoke, and another for a mixture of Allagash one offs. Good Luck OP!
Your logic seems off to me; It lost some peach flavor but gained some more rare flavor... clearly it's better now!
Not sure how you two have been storing your bottles but I couldn't disagree more. I think it's only gotten better with age and is in a real sweet spot right now... still has huge peach character but funk has come along nicely. Further, if/when the peach starts to fade I'm now no longer concerned about it being one note (see: Flaming Fury). Had it ~ half a dozen times (probably a bit more)--every month or two since release. Just my $.02.
We're of an accord on this one. I got bottles at the release and traded for more afterward. Love it. The base beer is interesting enough that I'm not overly concerned if the fruit fades, but I've found it's held its own thus far. It's gotten much better since the 2-3 month window surrounding the release when it was venting off sulfur.
