I usually pass on the Ninja series bombers anymore, but I will be giving this a try. Assuming I can locate one. I think my PW honey hole still has some, according to BM.

~10 min Uber straight down North Ave will take you to the Lincoln Park Binny's. Biggest beer selection in the city. They'll be rolling in Pipeworks among other fine local offerings. Don't sleep on Mikerphone. Word of warning, the store gets picked clean pretty quickly on any really limited/hyped releases. I guess that's anywhere in Chicago these days though.

You're also really close to Links Taproom and Piece Pizza, both worth a look if you're bummin' around the neighborhood. I live about 10 minutes from where you're staying so if you want to get crooked with some locals, feel free to drop me a line and I'll BM you my number.

Enjoy your trip to Chicago, cheers!

Welp, guess it wasn't meant to be. I can confirm it smells delicious. Taste? I'm not drinking from a welcome mat.

Unfortunately, while Wicker Park/Bucktown is an awesome neighborhood, and one I call home, the bottle shop situation is mediocre at best. Garfields is ok, but hit or miss.

My recommendation is take a $5 uber and go to Puerto Rico Food and Liquor. It's only 2 miles from where you're staying, and one of the top 3 craft beer shops on the city, along with Beer Temple and Fischmans. Junior, the owner, is amazing, and if you call the store, ask for him and tell him you're from out of town. He'll guide you and hook you up with some good stuff.

Pipeworks even made a Puerto Rican inspired beer partly because of the store, though it wasn't anything special.

It looks like such a dumpy place, but the dejection is as good as any in the city.

I know they're getting older, but if anyone is still looking for Sunburst Peacock, Maria's Packaged Goods in Bridgeport still had about 4 on the shelf last night - really hate to see them still sitting.

If anyone is looking for shards of Lupine, my garbage man hauled them away this morning.

Taste: had notes of dirt, grime, and felt.

Feel: there were pieces of dirt and shards of glass in it!

    5/5 would drink again.

Drank two Lupine's over the weekend, no doubt a top 3 Pipeworks beer for me. Abosutley fantastic!

Agreed. It was amazing. At least as good as the Fish series, and drinks SO far below that ABV.

Now I'm looking forward to Good Fiend. @NOTpipeworks is Abduction the base or is it a different recipe?

Had it on tap over the weekend. Had to be a different base. Much different drinking experience than the Abductions. Felt lighter.

Glad someone is backing me up here. I thought that beer was a good as any hoppy beer from them in a long long time.

Drank my first one tonight - I thought it was good but not even close to Spotted Puffer or Sunburst Peacock for me. Just my opinion.

@NOTpipeworks Any chance we'll see Unicorn Hits Rock Bottom in the semi-near future? Heard it was awesome the first release and didn't pick up a bottle for some reason...

FwB release. IIRC, public sales usually start around the same time, maybe Monday the 13th?

This will likely be my first time trying to get BA Pipeworks stuff outside of the Rohrwerker Batch 666 event that they did with Local Option.

Any tips or tricks? Should I pop in Binny's on the way home from work or is this the type of thing that you have to be there immediately when it arrives? Should I check smaller stores first?

it's all about timing. Binny's is probably your best bet as they are more likely to get multiple cases than your mom and pop, but I'd expect these to sell out within an hour pretty much everywhere it hits. The struggle is real...

So I have to be one of the people that waits around in Binny's for a few hours lol.

I hate that so much :/

Hey @NOTpipeworks can I purchase a tin tacker when I grab my BA bottles? Been waiting a while for those to become available again on the online store.
