Happy early morning on this fine...it is Tuesday, right? Summer vacation means nothing to the three-year-old, so I got a 6 AM wake up. Everyone else but her and I is still sleeping, and I've been wanting to try a new breakfast concoction for a while. I call it The Brown Mountain Baby. Pretty darn good.

These guys are just plain bizarre, but the song itself is great on headphones.

I'm Sorry I forgot the ? in the title of this thread. They'll probably never let me open one of these again....

Trillium Cuvée de Tetreault.. wild ale aged in oak barrels with Cabernet grapes and black currents. Tasty.

I heard that this is the alpha fruit beer. But to be honest i really didn't like the feel of this beer at all. I think its safe for me to say fruit beers just arent my thing. It tastes good but no carbonation to break up all that heavy sweetness.

Good morning BAs! Thunderstorms moved through last night and mudded in all the planting Mrs. Lizard and I did yesterday - that's out of the way for this season. Today's sunny morning new breakfast beer is:

Combine it with an FBS and you get a chocolate raspberry.

Looks like a tasty blend! Great cup, too :-)
Ever see that movie Chappie? The Die Antwoord crew got a chance to show off their acting chops - in other words, they did a great job of playing themselves
    Cheers!

Watched it last Wednesday, which is actually the reason I finally checked the band out even though I've known of them for years. Chappie was very good, even with a bit of a disjointed ending. I really like Neill B's directing style. Reminds me of early Peter Jackson (I've seen pretty much all his movies, and his best stuff is his early shoestring budget shit from before Heavenly Creatures). Neill presents a DIY sense on a big budget, which is different these days.

I'd say that Chappie might actually be my favorite of Blomkamp's three big releases to-date. He does such a superlative job of balancing real emotion with the more 'cartoonish' elements. Couldn't agree more re: his style as a director. Never have I seen such effects-laden films manage to build such a sense of immediacy & reality. He's like the anti-Shane Carruth (another favorite of mine)
Alright, I'm back to beer - don't wanna turn this into a movie-review thread :grinning:

    Back again, BA's! Now around 10 here in warming-up NOVA & I'm onto a new-to-me local brew:
GPA (Grapefruit Pale Ale) from Dominion. This is interesting. The bittering hops are much stronger than expected & actually seem to compliment the grapefruit-rind notes pretty well. Sadly, there's just not much else going on. It's too heavy & slick to be considered refreshing, so the well-defined citrus bite almost seems out-of-place.
To my fellow VA BA's - is it just me, or has Dominion been slipping a bit lately?

    Tunes:

    Masters at work here :-)

    Cheers!

    A sneezy morning after walking the dog (I'm allergic to something out here);
otherwise, a beautiful day shaping up. Going wild this morning-Firestone Walker's 'Bretta Rose', a wild ale fermented with raspberries:

Tart raspberries and a dry champagne like finish. Subtle funk underneath. Nice.
    Cheers from Petaluma!
