I want to give the whole story but basically it all revolves around the fact that he is refusing to replace a bottle that broke during shipping.

We had agreed that I would send him one fb wide awake plus extras, he would send th double shot bottle plus extras. I shipped FedEx, he shipped usps. I was supposed to get my shipment the Wednesday before Memorial Day but did not get it till the Tuesday after. He got my shipment prior to Memorial Day. We communicated over the weekend due to the fact that my shipment had not arrived and we both agreed we would check on the Tuesday after. He also communicated to me over the weekend that the wide awake was great. When I received my shipment, it was discovered the double shot was broken. The post office had held the box as it was all covered in beer. The box did not contain sufficient filler to keep the contents from moving. The beers were wrapped in bubble wrap and there may have been a sheet of paper or two but not nearly enough as evidenced by the breakage. I communicated this fact to him and he said he would try to make it right as he did not have another. He offered KBS and 120 minute but I was not interested in those as I can get those locally. I would have asked for my beer back but he had already drank it. I asked him to let me know what else he could offer. Eventually he communicated back to me that he was willing to give me two th cans. I asked for six as it was more approaching $4$ and is in fact the going rate for wide awake (please see sixth post in the wide awake completed trades thread). He was insulted for some reason and said I wasn't gonna get crap and that I was being unreasonable. I made a counter offer for 4 cans to at least approach the value of the beer I gave him and split the difference between us. No response. I gave him 36 hours to change his mind and make things right before I made this post and he immediately said to post anyway. I ended up giving him 48 hours before I posted and gave him one last opportunity.

I do not think I am being unreasonable in requesting a $4$ replacement when I can't get my beer back or the terms of the original deal.

Did you use the feedback system? [EDIT I see you did] If so please make sure to leave him negative feedback. I definitely agree that something should be done to make it right and shelf beers or undervalue beers is not doing so. It is the shippers responsibility to be able to provide equal or better replacements if a box breaks (or individual bottles) or send back the originally traded beer. Since he drank it he should be acquiring another DS bottle or what is deemed fair in return. I think somewhere in the 4-6 can range is fair as they are more readily available than double shot and cost less. What say you @Garrettnyy

It is on @Garrettnyy to make the trade right... and it should be a lesson learned on packing a proper box. Was it a USPS flat rate package?

He's in TH country, he should be able to get you another Double Shot if he puts in the effort.

@dmbforever, can we get Garrett tagged until he makes the trade right or explains his side of the story?

I agree that if everything is true negative feedback is warranted here. It's up to the shipper to either send back the original bottles or a replacement that is satisfactory to his trade partner. This is why I don't drink the beer until both parties have received their box. 6 "shelf" Tree House seems reasonable to me. Hope this gets resolved OP.

@Garrettnyy Is currently looking through the trade forums and very purposefully avoiding this thread. Maybe to speed the process up @F2brewers could throw the bad trader tag on him since he is currently online

Amazing how you can finger the newbs without even knowing their trade statistics. Drank the beer he received before knowing whether his trading partner had received his box safely; used USPS; poorly packed beer; getting bent over a couple of IPAs replacement value when the original breakage was likely his fault.
    GL OP.

Nice, @Garrettnyy viewed this thread right after you put the BAD trader label on him. Time to explain yourself.

Sorry you had this experience OP. Any good BA would not only replace the beer but send something great along with it as an apology for packaging like a moron. Hope he comes through.

I think we can all agree that @Garrettnyy needs to make this right. I don't really fault him for drinking the beer before his box was received, as I will be doing the same when I get some fresh hoppy brews tomorrow. But, that is a regular trade partner so you'd better believe I'd be all over making it right if something I sent broke/leaked. You have to be reasonable and willing to work things out when it's clearly your responsibility to correct the situation. This thread could have easily been avoided had he sent out 6 Th cans, which for a Wide Awake is really not that unreasonable considering the bottle he sent broke... why isn't he jumping all over to absolutely crush a replacement box? Very concerning behavior.

If the box is as poorly packed as you say it is, @Garrettnyy should be bending over backwards to make this right, not haggling over the replacement beers.

I was wondering when I would see this guy come up on here. I remember a while back posting an ISO for either Very Hazy or Doppel and got a message and after my reply never heard from him again. I could tell he was one of the new TH traders who's only out to win trades and get max value out of what they have so they went on my DNT list.

I spoke with a mod and the OP before posting this and both said it was ok to let people know. However, the mod said I wasn't the first to bring it up, so I'm glad others noticed. Anyway, there is a seller on my beer collectibles with a very similar name (ending in the nyy) and looking at their feedback shows the same pic as this user has in their profile. Since they negotiate by quoting secondary market price this makes perfect sense that it is most likely them. It's good they were at least fulfilling trades and shipping, however, when something breaks it needs to be replaced with the same thing, or something the other party agrees to as fair. When you have someone trying to replace it with 2 regular can offerings, going by secondary market value, that is unacceptable (In this case saying 20 in TH cans, but it's actually 8, regardless on what they trade/sell for).

So @Garrettnyy you've seen this thread, know you've been tagged (you read the warning email!) and were back on 10 minutes ago but didn't feel the need to respond?

You know it doesn't exactly take a genius to find you elsewhere on the net, right?

You've apparently screwed over enough other people on some of the auction sites (gasp, yes, we know they exist!) that they've seen fit to pass along your info to us. Same avatar, but gee, your feedback isn't exactly stellar there either.

And didn't you just sell a few bottles of Double Shot there for a handsome profit? Yet you can't replace the OP's bottle and you're refuse to even pony up $4$ for what he sent you?

Funny, though you use your own email, it appears that you use your wife's name for your account there. Does she know? And you've got an alias there who also appears to have a link to an account here @Bellemarescott09 ?

And those Twitter links across flush with beer references not limited to Tree House.

Can we bring your reddit activity into this? Admitting that you to obtain some Very Green, you used a mule *and* that you drove a whole two hours so you're (just clarifying like you said) looking to "maximize their trade value" and "land some whales with this shit"?

Yeah, I think you're done trading here.

Shall we just ban your account or would you like some further public shaming?

As soon as I saw this thread, and bad trader username I knew it wouldn't end well. This guy is a loser, who openly brags about his profits, and trade maximizing ways on other sites.

I came across him on MBC, and thankfully hadn't had enough drinks that night to work out any kind of deal. Maybe it was him claiming how many hours he had to drive, and how cold it was to wait in line, or the fact that sooo many people thanked him for the opportunity to pay $40+ on a can of IPA, but this guy became the first person I've ever had to keep a note on to avoid.

For the sake of the community, his known usernames on other sites that I know of are: garrettnyy, melissanyy, and bellemare09. I also have his gmail if anyone believes they are involved with him, and needs confirmation.

@Amguerra305 I hope this works out for you, but if he never shows up please stay in touch, and when I can I'll try to get you some TH cans. I can't promise 6, but I'll occasionally have extras on hand that I'd love to share.

@Garrettnyy does your offer still stand "if I saw u in person i'd punch u in the neck"????

@Garrettnyy OP's request seems so easy to rectify. Get yer butt to the brewery, drop $26.00(or $15.00 if you are the bare minimum cheapskate) and make it right. I hear they are open today till 6.
