http://www.oregonlive.com/beer/index.ssf/2016/06/portland_beer_week_2016_10_can.html Nice to see Bell's out here semi-annually now. Still have an Expedition Stout in the fridge from last time. Hope to get a taste of that double 2 Hearted. Didn't even know that was a thing.
Well, that Masters of IPA event looks pretty good. Also not all Portland breweries as I don't think PBW is meant to be a celebration of exclusively Portland beers.
That Masters of IPA event does look good, although an IPA-centric list that includes Hop Valley yet has no Barley Brown's strikes me as fundamentally flawed. (Ah well. The event is "Masters of IPA," not "Vurt's Masters of IPA.")
Start planning for next year. A Vurt curated taster tray, with percentage of proceeds going to your charity of choice.
I've already got my tickets to the Snackdown. Still debating whether or not to go to the Beer & Cheese Fest - if only to checkout Wayfinder.
Well then... That makes my decision a lot easier. Anyone going to New Oregon Breweries Showcase at Bailey's on Monday?
Just got my daily brew notice, and it looks like several places are gearing up for beer week with some interesting tap items. Looks like Belmont Station just put on dG Melange #4, FW 14, and 2014 SN Narwal, while Cascade just tapped a keg of 2012 cherry bourbonic, 2008 Sang Noir and 2009 Vlad.
The 11 beers we put on tap today are my picks for my going away party. I'm rather pleased with the line up.
Ha ha... Saw the picture, but thought it was a beer week gag of some sort. Out of curiosity, what's the "nifty new job?"
Barley Brown's was invited to the Masters of IPA event, but we got scratched because our brewers were unable to attend (date conflicted with the Eastern Oregon Beer Festival). Thank you for the kind words @vurt !
Definitely hitting up the New Brewers Showcase Monday, even though that is going to be a very busy day with the Bell's event at Belmont Station and my 8pm reservations for the De Garde/Southpark Dinner at NWIPA. I recommend the Official Beer Week Rooftop Kickoff Party at the Ecotrust Building tomorrow (Thursday, June 9th). It's a great venue, the Blue Star Donut sounds great, good brewery list, and all proceeds go to New Avenues for Youth!
New School posted a list of the beers for the the New Oregon Breweries Showcase. http://www.newschoolbeer.com/2016/0...22-new-beers-showcase-at-baileys-taproom.html
I don't care what anyone says, Bell's makes some great beers and they deserve their place among the best breweries in the Midwest. Had Two Hearted and 2 of it's variations as well as their Hopsolution at the Belmont event yesterday. Enjoyed all of them although the Double Two Hearted was a little too sweet. Having moved out here a while ago I wasn't sure how Bell's would hold up for me over the years, but regular Two Hearted is still one of my favorites anywhere. The Hopsolution was also impressive.
