As a true homebrewery, I brew weekly, to keep around 6 beers on tap at all times and bottle some for one reason or another. Currently I have 8 batches in fermenters, which is pretty average for me, with some long term aging (sour/funky stuff) and some with a 3-4 week turnaround (mainly IPAs, DIPAs and Pale Ales). I always have a seasonal beer on and like to plan themes for various series of beers (right now I'm at the end of a NE IPA series and start of a GIPA/German IPA series with all German hops and German yeast). I enjoy serving friends as much as they want when they visit, which isn't too often, and sometimes brew batches for friends or nonprofits I volunteer for. I know I may be a little excessive, but living in a state with terrible distro and having relatively mediocre breweries within a 45 minute drive, along with the high cost at most local craft beer bars, I feel that homebrewing is my best way to get the varieties of beer I like consistently, and at a reasonable price. My other local brewing buddies only brew around once a month to every few months and I see folks on this forum mention their "yearly" beer...so that leads me to making this poll.

I'm curious to find out how often everybody on here brews and what is their motivation for homebrewing???

    Thanks Homebrewing BAers!

I minimize going to a commercial bar . . . much better brews in my home bar. I'm not obsessed with brewing, but I've already mapped out my Christmas line-up.

I'm a three season brewer. Summertime is too hot for my non-temperature controlled basement. Occasionally, I'll brew something stronger in the spring for consumption in the winter. I'll brew 6-8 5 gallon batches each year. I started brewing in the early-90s, just before the first wave of micros and homebrewing started. Initially, I brewed in order to have a variety of beer that wasn't available commercially at a reasonable price.

I started brewing in the early 90's as well, to make better beer than was available, but mainly because I was 18 and it was easier than trying to find somebody to buy beer for me

About once a month. Sometimes twice a month or once every two months. 10 gallons at a time.

I chose every month just to match the number, but my routine is brewing seasonally, and I brew 3-4 batches all in a row take two months, rinse and repeat.

In a perfect world I'd brew once a month but kids sports prevented that since early March. I'm playing catch up and brewed 2 weeks ago and am brewing again this weekend. Plan to do one more batch the following weekend. All four homebrew taps will be flowing happily again and I'll have a RIS aging in a keg until this winter.

I love to brew, but I don't do it as much as I'd like. I've been in my current apartment for about 1 year and I've brewed 4 batches here. Until this spot, I had been on a one year hiatus because I was travelling and couch surfing after college. I did a few small batches with friends teaching them the craft. During my last two years of college, I'd brew about 6 batches per year. Sophomore year I was taking classes in brewing and doing 30 gallons of wort every two weeks, splitting batches, experimenting, measuring stuff like IBUs and ABV in the lab... that was the height of my brewing frequency. Before that I'd do a couple batches during summer vacations because the dorm wasn't conducive. In high school I'd do about 2-3 batches a year.

I probably average around once a month, but some times I brew more frequently when I'm building my sour stash.

I brew on average two times a month. Sometimes it will be 3-4 times a month, other months it will be once. We've been pretty consistent lately, especially with people putting in orders for batches.

Brewing as I type, but that's besides the point. I tell people I brew once a month, whether I have the space or not. What's more accurate, is I am typically prepared to brew as soon as I can get the previous beer out of the fermented. So actually it's more like I brew as soon as I have the fermented space. I have 3-1L flip top growlers that help move beer out to friends and family when the normal imbibing doesn't do the trick.

I voted once a month but it's usually once every three weeks. During the winter its more like twice a month.

Average has been 1x per month. When I was teaching, I squeezed most of my brewing into the summer months just because of the less hectic work schedule. Since I changed jobs, it probably has evened out a bit, rather than being concentrated in one season. I have access to more commercial beer than I used, which has cut into my homebrew consumption. If that keeps up, than l need to slow my brewing down. Or else I may shift to brewing beers that want more aging

I generally brew anywhere from 4 to 6 times a year, but often I do 10 gallon batches. I also make [other stuff unmentionable on BA: mod edited] on top of that.

I'm relatively new to brewing (last October), so I'm still in the honeymoon phase and doing about 2 batches per month. As more kids are born and life gets busier, I'm sure it'll decrease in frequency.

Nowhere near as much as I would like. Sometimes it's 3 (small batches) within a week, sometimes it's once per 8-9 months...
Averaged out probably once every 2-3 months.
