Yeah, 100% agreed. I'd be in (well, not in reality since I'm out of town that weekend, but I live right near TGL, so this was very attractive) for the aforementioned $20 if I was guaranteed the ability to purchase BAMCC (I'm so tired of typing it out) at $25 or 30. And I love glassware, but I have too much already, so I'd pass on the Spiteful stuff. I don't particularly want a BA porter, either, so I'd probably want at best 1 bottle.

The other point of concern to me, is that I don't see mention of what else there will be to drink. You're guaranteed a "small pour" of BAMCC (I'm assuming 5oz.), but what else will be on tap? Just TGL's typical taplist (which is admittedly fantastic)?

Yeah sorry, I didn't mean to be so literal, it's just that your example sounds like a genuine whale (that I didn't know about, and am now mad I won't get to drink). You're definitely right that they can probably mark up BAMCC to pretty crazy levels (especially since it's 1) a Chicago-only beer currently which = HYPEEE 2) very rare and 3) draws comparisons to BA Abraxas), I'm just very against significant price increases in a short time, due only to hype. I understand that's a hypothetical point (I assume they still think of it as a $25 beer), but the mere idea really sticks in my craw! *chews on straw*

I would be interested in checking it out, but I'll be out of town that weekend. Not sure I'd want to pay the $110, so my trip back to MI that weekend makes it easy for me. While I agree it isn't the best to be forced into buying the glasses, weren't the 3F mini-snifters pretty pricey at DLD? For some reason I was thinking $30 for the pair, but it's been awhile since DLD (oh, and I ended up pretty drunk when I bought them), so I can't recall for sure.

This would have more of an event feel if they scrapped the glasses and gave you 3 or 4 drink tickets instead...

Thats the other thing, it feels like this is going to be a "lineup, heres your 3 oz. pour, heres your bottles/glasses and see ya later" kind of thing rather than an actual event where you hand out, enjoy beers, talk, etc.

Beyond Dark Lord Day, that's what I'm looking for in my bottle releases.

This is the one thing that bugs me a bit. Would it have changed things that much if I at least got a pour of the Pigeon Porter too?

I'm sure some will justify it as a convenience premium for being assured a bottle and not having to vulture around the city, loitering around bottle shops.

Fair enough, I'd just be more willing/likely to drop $ if it were more than just picking up the bottles.

While that's fair, this one is at The Green Lady, one of the better beer bars (BBB?) in the city. If they're just throwing bottles at me and kicking me out the door, I'd rather they do it at some place like Binny's, which is better set up to handle a bunch of dudes (and women!)lining up for bottles.

I love BAMCC but there's no way I can justify spending $110 on three bottles and a pour of beer. Glasses at most breweries at like $5-8/glass, so $95 on three beers is, yeah, no thanks.

A 3oz pour? Are they selling DD tickets to this event? I probably shouldn't drink that much and drive home.

This reminds me of those shady bottle shops who tapes a bunch of turds together with one limited bottle in the middle and charges a packaged price in order to get that one sought after bottle you actually want.... Should at least include 2 bottles of BAMCC if I have to purchase 2 BA Pigeons and 2 identical glasses.

not a chance in hell. i will leave this to the noobies and whale chasers. $110 buys an awful lot of great beer and I already have a 6ft tall cabinet full of glassware.

Pass. This is disappointing coming from a local home grown brewery that I have a lot of respect for. This is not a good look for it though.

That flyer should have wallets with wings instead of bottles.

For $110 those bottles better have wings...

Had the new batch of BAMCC and it was not nearly as good as FOBAB. New batch is much more spicy and doesn't have the chocolate bourbon smoothness of the old batch. That said, it's still solid.

Good to know. I wonder if they cranked this one out faster than the last, due to more demand than anticipated. The first couple batches of BAMCC were so great, I hope this is an outlier, then.
