Mexican Cake Release?

Whole Foods in Greenville, SC had them for about $12...one per person

 

I will say that the brewery does not allocate the beer, that is the distributor's job. So distributor gets X cases and then has to decide where it goes, usually based on sales volume of each store. I have heard that AL and NC got similar amounts, but there are a lot more stores to split that up across NC. I think the number of bottles was about the same this year for AL, but it was distributed to more shops which means everyone got less. Most places here got 1 case, some reserved them, some just sold them first come, but nobody really put them out. I heard we got even less kegs this year, and it is crazy but nobody in town has tapped it yet. You had to hustle like crazy to get bottles and also have some luck. Also price was all over the board, $13.29 to $15.99. $15.99 seemed to be the going rate.

 

If anyone is in Charleston and still looking for regular Cakes, Earth Fare in West Ashley had less than 2 cases left behind the cheese counter. They did fix the price ($14.99, was $11.99 2 days ago). Limit 2
Edit: This was about 9:30 this morning. The guy said that he expected the rest to be gone by later this afternoon.

 

TW in Greenville had it for $13.99, and a 1/2 Barrel on the Growler Station...no surprise that it's all gone

 

Anywhere in the Charleston area with either regular or coffee in stock?

 

Not that I know of, though I don't go to the big box stores where they do 1 pp with their 25 cases...

 

Charleston Beer Exchange will have Cake on tap for growler fills this afternoon starting at 5pm!!

 

Any dessert pairing suggestions?

 

Chocolate anything. Don't get too crazy with trying to pair it, just grab chocolate and go.

 

I went crazy once and made a Mexican chocolate pound cake triffle once to go with it. Used a Simple pound cake recipe and added cocoa powder, cinnamon, and habenero powder. Sliced it and then soaked them in condensed milk flavored with vanilla and Patron XO and then layered it with Bourbon whipped cream.

 

Did Coffee Cake make distro? Anybody seeing any regular or Coffee in the Charleston area at local stores.
