It looks like @djrn2 is the only one on here to have rated their beers

 

It should noted that Matt (Czigler) was the head brewer at Kane before leaving to start his own brewery over 2 years ago. Given this is the man that brewed both Head High and ANTEAD among other great beers, I'd say expectations should be high.

Would he have brewed ANTEAD as we know it now? I remember the first year of ANTEAD was wildly different. I can't remember the timing, but if he left over two years ago...

 

I remember 2014/2015/2016 being stellar. If it takes 15 months to age, I'd say it's probably a fair assessment that he was most likely there at the time, but I wouldn't know that for fact, to be honest. Just speculating.

Either way, I know of some people who are dying to head up there.

 

Yes. He was the brewer and overseer of the barrels for the Gold Medal Antead.

He was there from August 2012 – April 2014.

So really all three 2013, 2014 and 2015 releases have been him. 2016 hasn't been released yet.

Matt is a great brewer, and the design and thought that went into the brewery is awesome, outdoor seating, reclaimed wood for the bar everything looked great. IPA was my favorite, but the Kolsch was a close second. more of you will notice him when his barrel program starts. from what i was told 1st is a QUAD aged in Red wine barrels

 

He was the one that tried to repair the 1st antead, and brewed the new version, which is what it is now, along with morning bell and a few others

 

I had no idea anyone lived in NW New Jersey. I wish CM was closer to Conclave so I could get both out of the way at once, now I have to drive to no man's land twice!

Matt did brew the 2014 version, but no one was trying to "repair" 2013 ANTEAD (which was actually quite well received at the time, if not at the level that the later versions were). A decision was made by Mike Kane to move from an unique imperial dark ale recipe (containing belgian candi sugar, bottle conditioned etc) to a more traditional imperial stout for this brand, so he rewrote the recipe.

However, you should all be excited to try Matt's beers, he's a great brewer and a great guy. I'm replying here just to correct some of the revisionist history that seems to surround that first ANTEAD batch in general, not as it pertains to Matt.
